Disagree. He intentionally forced contact with Artest probably trying to draw a cheap foul or just fuck with him. He made the mistake of doing it against Artest who doesn't give a damn.

Artest should obviously be punished. Not the overblown punishments some are campaigning for though.

My issue is people trying to frame Harden as some innocent victim who did nothing wrong, and Artest as the evil guy just running around throwing wild elbows. Harden went and bumped into Artest hoping for a reaction, and he got one. Perfect mix of an instigator, and a dude who overreacts to small stuff. They were both in the wrong. I don't feel bad for Harden at all and again it's ridiculous to pretend he was just some innocent dude trying to go get an inbound pass. But Artest has a history so we know what the narrative will be.

In football that's a 3 game suspension for violent conduct. Adjusted for season length, I'd say 7 game suspension sounds about right. Calling that inadvertant or in any way unplanned is nonsensical. You cannot swing a violent elbow at that height and not expect to catch a guy in the face.

That's bogus. All Harden did was put his forearms on Artest. Not punch, not really push even. Artest reared back and elbowed the guy in the side of the head.

His ass deserves a long suspension (first round, at least). Nothing excuses Artest's actions here.

Artest has been suspended for 111 games so far in his career. This elbow was intentional during a dead ball situation. This wasn't Ron with the ball in his hands swinging is elbows. This didn't occur as he was going to the basket or defending (like Karl Malone on Isiah Thomas, 40 stitches in Thomas' face and Karl only got 1 game). Ron deserves to miss the rest of the season. This would be a crime if it didn't happen in the NBA. I know Ron didn't run across the court and punch Harden but Ron elbowed Harden hard, Ron had to know how hard that contact was. And he just ran off like he could get away with it and then showed his true self by squaring up against Ibaka. If it was an accident Ron would've stopped and tried to help Harden up, not run down court. I hope Ron misses the rest of the season, there is no room in the NBA for dead ball cheap shots like this.

Start at 1:04, how's that not intentional? Its great since when he's explaining to the ref what he was doing, his elbows were pointed down. If they were like that, then it would have been impossible for harden to get an elbow to the side of the head unless he was muggsy bogues' height. That elbow was up way to high.

My opinion, suspend him for 1-2 rounds of the playoffs. IF, and a big if, the Lakers get to the 3rd round, then they should have Artest back.

Somehow that movement deserves an elbow to the head? Fuck this 'Harden walked in to it' shit. If he'd run across the court to get there, then maybe. The guy barely moved, and even if was looking to obstruct him, it's something guys do all the time. To catch a vicious elbow behind the head is obscene

Saw the play live, I don't know how anyone can defend it. it wasnt a part of his celebration, because with his first chest pound he didnt pull back as far. Harden was tapping him on the back and he reacted angrily. way too much rear back, way too much follow through. It was like bizarro Blake Griffin.
