Jeff Gerstmann, who was the center of much controversy over his criticial Kane & Lynch review at GameSpot that eventually led to his firing, went on to found the site GiantBomb. CBS, the parent company of GameSpot, and a number of other sites, such as Metacritic and GameFAQs, has just acquired GiantBomb. Shocking, to say the least.

I posted on Gamespot at the time of his firing. I remember Kane and Lynch heavily sponsored the website at the time, too. Ridiculous to fire someone over an honest review of a shit game.

It doesn't sound like that was the case at all. GS wanted him, not the other way around.

While Whiskey was smaller, I imagine they would have done fine, just a bit tighter in the waistband.

yeah they know there shit, and i enjoy some of the tangents they go off on but sometimes they drone on.

I found it funny when Vinny went on a craigslist trip on a weekend to get a flight stick and now he has a track IR on his hat....good stuff.

in a sense it would be. If he was fired, then had his parent company bought out by the people that fired him, he would have to come crawling back or risk being fired again

on the other hand, if he was part of the selling of the parent group back to gamespot then he is just a sell out who is as phoney as the 6.0 review that got him fired.

Gamespot approached him with the offer for GB and Comic Vine. They decided to break off from Whiskey Media because Whiskey Media was being sold to BermanBraun.

If you watch the video, all of the people who had say in Gerstmann's firing no longer work for the company.

And GB isn't going anywhere, they're just moving into their building and becoming a part of the CBSi network.

"The People" are no longer in control(and according to Ryan Davis, aren't even in the same industry anymore) that were when Jeff was terminated.

And he hasn't gone back to Gamespot. Giant Bomb and Comic Vine were bought buy CBS(the parent company). Giant Bomb continues on as Giant Bomb, just under a new roof and company.
