Can't disagree with that at all. Not knowing the Bucs roster, goin off the top of my head. They do have a QB, RB, WR's, decent line. Maybe they think they're good to go. I'm intrigued....

Bucs obviously believe that Revis is what will give them the ability to challenge Atlanta and New Orleans passing attacks in that division. He'll make a difference... how much remains to be seen.

This strategy has never worked, Exhibit A is the Eagles.

It's beyond being a pass happy league. In the grand scheme DB's are powerless to stop the passing games in today's NFL. Bargain basement is the way to go with DB's, especially corners. It's the last position I would spend resources on.

If you want to combat the passing game these days, it begins and ends with pass rush imo. Forget trying to cover anybody with these rules and these schemes. Find two cheap corners who are basically average, and hope you can get to the QB on a consistent basis.

Foolish move for Tampa Bay.

I'll agree with WTB however I think Revis at his best is the only CB in the league that can actually contain even the best WRs despite the rules. However coming off injury and at his age just not worth that much in picks.
It's basically pass rush or nothing in this league.

The Ravens won the SB while starting a CB who graded out arguably as the worst starting CB in the entire NFL.

What other position(s) can you get away with that? FB? C? RG? An OLB?

The point here, is you can win even with outright terrible CB's. Teams are going to pass on you anyway. You aren't stopping Aaron Rodgers, I dont care who you put out there.

Comparing Revis to Asomugha on the Eagles is a piss poor bullshit argument that I'm tired of hearing. In 2009 Revis had one of the best cover seasons for a corner in a very long time. Revis has proven he can be thrown at over 100 times in a season and pretty much shut down opposing receivers.

According to PFF on the 2011 Jets, a team with a shitty pass rush, Revis did this:

Thrown at: 85
Receptions: 35
Completion %: 41.2
TD's allowed: 1
INT's: 4

QB's had a 45.6 rating when throwing at Revis. He did this while covering an opponents BEST receiver.

You're telling me he can't do anymore than just "contain" a teams best receiver? W2B and others with similar opinions are flat out wrong. Revis is the best CB a lot of you will have the privilege to ever watch. If his physical checks out you pull the trigger without a seconds thought.

Personally I think Mark Dominick did a masterful job.

On the bright side, TB does have plenty of cap space available. Beyond year 1, each year @ $16M is not guaranteed so they have an out in case he never fully recovers from the ACL injury. Big risk on his side.

Even if this is a weak draft, the Jets had to get rid of him and they get a 1st (potentially a 3rd next year). Both sides have reason to be satisfied...tho immense pressure's on the new Jets GM to get the #13 pick right.

Some people get caught up in giving up a first round pick. Bottom line, when a team trades a 1st round pick, that player becomes their first round pick for that year. Essentially, the Bucs #1 pick this year was Darrelle Revis. Best CB in the league. I think the loss of conditional picks my sting more than the loss of the 1st round pick.
