I was done with Caldwell last year after he blew multiple games with his use of timeouts and game management.

Colts wanted to play it safe and keep things in house after Dungy left that was a mistake. They got to comfortable overall with how they handle things and now they've fallen behind.

This season is the greatest blessing in disguise to Indianapolis. Peyton Manning got injured just in time for you to get Andrew Luck and Jim Caldwell is blowing so hard you can actually get a real coach?

The entire roster needs an overhaul, and honestly, so does the coaching staff and front office.

If you land the #1 pick, you basically start over. Take Luck and start to build. They did grab two offensive linemen last year, so, that was a start (much like they did when they drafted Tarik Glenn and Adam Meadows before drafting Peyton Manning).

I think with that though, you're basically saying thats it for Peyton. I mean he will still play 2-3 more seasons probably and while Luck is a great prospect, I think they should try and fill a different need and go for another Super Bowl. Put some pieces in place and let Peyton do his thing. I'm sure another QB will come along over the next 3 years the Colts could get.

If they do land the number one spot, they could easily trade it or a bunch of draft picks. Especially with rookie salaries being lowered, teams won't be as hesitant to move up now.

I'm always in favor of "playing for now" unless you're in a position in which you're absolutely fucked if you don't prepare for later. The Colts are absolutely fucked in the future without Peyton. While this is a whole team problem, quarterback is by far the most important position and the Colts have neglected this position for years.

We don't know what is to come in four years. I know that right now, you have an absolutely solid QB getting ready to come to the NFL in Luck. I honestly don't believe the Colts will find anyone near as good once Manning's done, who knows when they'll ever get the first pick again or be able to select a QB of Luck's caliber again. Peyton's the greatest, but he is human. He'll be 36 next year.
