Keith Brooking Whines About Vikings "Classlessness"

The Cowboys did the same thing to the Packers on Thanksgiving back around '94. They were up 18-7 with a few seconds on the clock and called timeout and kicked another FG so that they could break the NFL record for FG's in a game and it really ticked Reggie White off. Somewhere, that play by the Vikings brought the lulz to him.

BTW, Mr. Cowboy Jimmy Johnson said after the game that the Cowboys had the right to play defense and stop them at any time. He had no problem with it, Brookings should STFU and enjoy the offseason.

I hate the Cowboys as I am a NY Giants fan but the vikings could have just kneeled. There was no need for them to do that. If I was brookings though I would not have just gone over there and said something I would probably have punched one of them in the face.

You guys can feel however you want but the vikings showed a lack of sportsmanship:

"Conduct (as fairness, respect for one's opponent, and graciousness in winning or losing) becoming to one participating in a sport"...

Favre throwing the ball gave the Cowboys a (very small) chance to win. What if Favre's pass was picked off and returned for a TD? Guarantee it wouldn't have been considered classless then.

Brookings also failed to mention that Wade Phillips called all 3 of his timeouts with his team trailing 27-3 after the 2:00 minute warning. The game could have been over with 3 rushing plays if he would have just let the clock run. So in a way, his own coach put his team in that position.

Glad someone brought it up because it was my exact thought when watching it play out.

I'm all for kneeing the ball to run out the clock when its over.. but on the other hand the defense shouldn't be calling timeouts when its over. Only time in Madden I've ever run up the score (or attempted to) after the 2 min warning, when an asshole was calling TO's.


And legit the OWWboys need to look in the mirror. They pull the same shit. They can have their cake and eat it too.

I totally agree with MrBill. If Wade thought the game was completely over, then why is he calling timeouts and trying to get the ball back? If he knew there was no chance, then let Brett hand it to AP 3 times and take the loss like a man. So, obviously the Vikings seen the Cowboys were still trying to get back in the game, so why not end it? Put one more score on the board with the Cowboys having no timeouts and then Wade will realize there is no shot at a comeback. I see nothing wrong with it at all. You either don't call the timeouts, or if you do, you better be damn sure that you are going to stop them and get the ball back. Wade did neither, so the Vikings had every right to score.

i agree. I also think if brookings didnt have his antics that the story would have been brought up as running up the score. Instead, its now a story about brookings bitching

I wish that Brooking had stayed over there a little longer. Pat Williams said in an interview that he was straight up about to get his ass beat by him if he could have gotten to him before he tucked tail and ran back to his sideline.

BTW, you have your dates confused. In 1994, Jason Garrett embarrassed the Packers as a third string QB.

The game you're referencing wasn't on Thanksgiving. And it was a FG, not a TD.

Come to think of it, maybe Favre was trying to stick it to Garrett? :idea:
