I didn't think it sucked, but the bugs pissed me off. I actually think it's a game I could see myself playing if the final version has any polish.

Apparently, along with SSX, and who knows what else, TRU also has this game for $44.99 pre-order. So tempting. I wanted to wait for a $40 price point but what's another $5 to get it day one?

FYI, there is a nice piece on this game in the latest episode of Qore on PSN. The combat looks more and more like God of War, as do some of the boss fights. That's a good thing in my opinion. Looting, quests, great combat and gigantic boss battles? Fuck yeah!

Everything about the demo just screamed generic to me. There isn't really anything wrong with it but there is absolutely NOTHING that sets it apart in terms of quality or innovation whatsoever.

I wouldn't say generic. I think the whole game seems solid.

The only thing that seems like this game has that will set it apart for other similar games is it's class and leveling system. They've been pushing it pretty hard. Instead of being forced to pick a class in the beginning, ie Rogue, Warrior, Mage, etc., your play style and where YOU want to distribute your skill points determines how you mold your character. And apparently at any point in the game if you want to alter your skill trees, or respec, you aren't penalized.

yeah i wasnt feeling this game. a markey thats flooded with rpg's...this one doesnt do anything that makes it worth buying. it seems like a run of the mill rpg and it would probably be something some can sink alot of time into, but not me.

the cartoony graphics dont do it for me. I actually enjoyed the combat and thought the movement was very fluid

The dialogue and trees were a little much but didn't seem as bad as a game like Mass Effect or Dragon Age (both coincidentally Bioware games).

So, for one, just noticed this quote. What does that even mean? They're practically the same as Mass Effect (with the exceptions being they aren't as well voice acted or as well done).

Otherwise, I tried to get through the demo again twice last night. Both times crashed shortly after I got out of the tower. Not only that, but both times had multiple instances in which the voice acting dropped out and, not only that, the text appeared and disappeared so quickly I couldn't even read it (it was as if someone had "X" on auto or something, but it happened with any dialogue in general -- even no dialogue tree dialogue). I like it more, and the combat does open up pretty well pretty early (nothing too deep, but more in depth than Fable), but it would be nice if I could actually finish the damn demo without it crapping out on me.

38 Studios head Curt Schilling has found the NeoGAF forums, folks, and he is quite pleased with them. In a lengthy letter addressing the community, he starts things off by thanking everyone for a massive thread about his company's upcoming game, Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning. And after some minor promotion of said project, he quickly devolves into an apologetic rant about the recently released demo.

"Let me start by apologizing. The demo? Ya, it is way way WAYYYYY more buggy than anything ANYONE should ever release, much less a demo," Schilling wrote. He said that due to "the depth of breadth of a game that has anywhere from 40-50 hours (main quest line play) to 2-300 hours (for completionist)," it was inevitable there would be bugs. However, rather than releasing a demo with said inevitable issues, he argued with EA to not put out a demo at all. A fight that he said he's glad he lost.

"The demo has been a God send, especially when I realize even in this thread, how many people became aware because of the demo," Schilling said. "In a partnership there is a lot of give and take, and I believe in my team, they are world class, but when you have a publisher there are things happening you'd rather not choose. Shipping old code out 3 months prior to gold master to a 3rd party with no stake in the demo success can be problematic." Regardless of the issues, Schilling ultimately says he was glad for the exposure the demo granted Reckoning, and he'll be "chatting more" on NeoGAF in the future.
