So I looked up EARL 'DUTCH' CLARK. M'fer played in the 30's and wasn't even really a QB. Looks like he was a single wing guy.

If you recall, the response to my OP was "Is you on teh droogz?"

I think most people were aware there were exceptions. But when you're talking about risking your job over the once in a decade opportunity of having the #1 overall pick common sense says to go with the rule. Especially when it is at a position of need.

I wouldn't pick Te'o because he doesn't really do a lot to make me think he'll be able to change games at the next level. He didn't have an INT until this season (although he has 6 now) and doesn't make a ton of TFL in comparison to his tackling numbers nor is he an elite inside pass rusher.

Te'o will be a solid pro and start in the NFL for 10 years but if you're the Chiefs and already have solid MLBs you have to take the risk on a QB or player with an elite skill-set on D like a Star Lotulelei or Jarvis Jones.

No way dude. WCO is so heavily dependent on the short passing games and knowledge of the lanes and the timing theres no fair comparison to a deep option route type of offense Brees has run since leaving SD. Those guys did it better , in a tougher time to pass ,and in a tougher system to do it in. Only edge is Brees NO lines have not been nearly as good and certainly not as disciplined as the SF ones in the "passing lane" argument.

Defenses were tougher, but defenses today are more complicated in disguising coverages and zones to a point where mastering passing lanes is nearly a lost artform. Steve Young himself, has stated Brees' mastery of it was superior to what they were able to accomplish in San Francisco.
