Tons of smoke around this one. My gut tells me this is the deal that will bring Melo to NY.

The one that sucks to give up is Felton. Said all along Gallo and Chandler were going to be expendable with him here.

Felton was tailing off of late, but he was hurt. Not a fan of an old Chauncey, but if Denver wont budge, you do it. He'll likely be gone in a year if he doesn't want to be in NY, but I think he'll hang around.

I feel that if you secure Melo, then CP3 is a lock to come to NY, permitted the new CBA doesn't fuck the cap all up. Problem is having to wait another two years for him. Still have shit for a backup PG.

At least they didn't give up Fields or Mozgov or have to bring back Al Harrington's ridiculous contract in exchange. I think this is he right move.

Reports from the NYDN said Dolan has been in control since about Thursday.

Knicks brass and Nuggets brass had the phone conference Friday and that's when they agreed to put Gallo in the deal.

Melo will meet with Prokhorov Saturday while Dolan (and I guess Walsh) continue mulling over their proposed deal with Denver.

If the Knicks can pull the deal off before the deadline, I wonder if they can swap Azubuke's expiring/insurance-laden deal or something similar for a true back-up PG.

I honestly hope the Nets deal goes through, because I think it is really the best offer on the table. You have Favors who you can develop and maybe bring under guys like KMart and Harrington, like I said earlier, I think they could swing Harris to Portland for Batum, Portland wants Harris and the Nuggets want Batum. Murphy, I dont care about, but probably to some playoff team for another pick, some PG they'd probably waive, and of course, the 4 1st rd picks, I think 1 is the Lakers, but still, you can use those to fill in holes and build a team. With the Knicks, Felton would probably only be trade bait, Gallo and Chandler dont want to play here, so fuck them, they are gonna opt out as soon as possible, Curry? a contract, and 1 pick, I think the Wolves.

I understand you as a Nuggets fan, the Nets package is the best available one...no doubt.

However, as long as the Knicks are involved, I doubt Melo signs the extension with Jersey.

Anyway, in your ideas....the Blazers are not dealing Batum. They want to build around him and Aldridge. If they were to, it would take a lot more than just 'ol Devin Harris.

If Melo were to go to Jersey, Denver would not receive all 4 draft picks. They would have to package one with Murphy to get another team to take him off their hands and the team may not settle for one of the late-1st picks.

As for the Gallo/Chandler, unless RFA changes with the eventual new CBA...Chandler is a RFA after this year and Gallo is a RFA after next season. The Nuggets would have the right to first refusal on both (unless they simply don't want to pay them what another team may want to).

Like has been the case all along though, it's Melo. If he wants NY and they're this close, gotta imagine they'll get it done. If the Knicks side falls apart b/c Denver asks for more...it will get real interesting mid-week into Thursday to see if Melo sticks to his guns or goes to Jersey.

Im sorry no one is worth this much, I agree with some of these radio hosts (Steve Czaban, Mike and Mike, The Herd) If he wants to win, suck it up this year then become a free agent and sign with the Knicks, do deplete the roster so you can get traded.

Its an ego thing with him now to say he was involved in this multi player mega deal. Really Billups is the only guy with any "star" status. Its not like Dwight and Dirk are involved in this deal.

My opinion stays the same on Melo - hes a bitch and although Im not a Knicks fan, he is going to hurt them in the long run because Melo and Stodamire alone aint beating the Bulls, Celtics, Heat or Magic in a best 5 or 7

I'm sure there's ego involved with these guys but the issue here isn't being part of a mega deal. Melo wants to sign the extension, period. His #1 choice is New York. If they cannot get a deal done, then he'll go to Jersey. It's all about the 3-years, $65 million extension.

As far as the Knicks are concerned, I believe it's the owner (Dolan) handling it now. I've read where D'Antoni and Walsh may be against making the deal. However, if you can get Melo for that, you almost HAVE to.

No doubt the Knicks will still need a back-up PG and someone to step up on the bench (Douglas, Williams).
