And more to Warner's point, the pound to dollar conversion will cause issues as well, especially when it come to salary cap and the like... As far as travel, I'm sure they'd have a compound/practice stadium on the east coast for them to use and would schedule 2-3 away games at a time to ease the travel burden... But I agree with Warner, it isn't a huge difference b/t going from LA to NYC...

All I know is Khan has got to be looking at these full stadiums, then looking at his 1/3 empty building in Jacksonville, and thinking hard about moving over there.

I still think LA would be a more potentially lucrative destination, but I'm sure an economist somewhere could hammer out the numbers.

i think the best way to market the NFL in london is to have a top 5 team play a bottom 5 team. its almost certain to bring a good competitive game :shifty:

To be fair they have to set these games in advance and you can't tell who's going to be good and not. Almost every year has been competitive except when the Patriots smashed the Bucs.

People act as if flying to London is like flying to the moon.

It's not all that different than flying from the west coast to the east coast. I'm sure the players would survive.

The biggest hurdle is not the flight, the biggest hurdle is not fan interest. The biggest hurdle is convincing players (particularly free agents) to live there.

It's not the time that's bothersome. It's only a seven or eight-hour flight. It's the jet-lag. England is, correct me if I'm wrong, six hours ahead of the United States. It's hard to adjust to the time. Can you imagine getting ready for a Sunday Night game when your body thinks it's two in the morning?

I do agree, however, that players won't want to go over there to play. You'll have a team full of the desperate players.

Well, you also have to find a team willing to give up a home game. Helps thats the Rams are owned by a man with a stake in Arsenal; or the Buccaneers owned by a man with a stake in Man U as was the case a few years ago.

London Mayor Boris Johnson in talks with NFL

LONDON (AP) — The Olympic Stadium is in need of a tenant, and London Mayor Boris Johnson thinks the NFL could be the right match.

Just a few days after the NFL’s sixth regular-season game at Wembley Stadium, Johnson said he has spoken with the league about playing more games in the British capital.

‘‘Sunday’s game at Wembley, in front of over 80,000 fans, further cements London’s reputation as the natural home of American football outside of the United States,’’ the mayor’s office said in a statement.

‘‘Given the ever growing popularity of gridiron on this side of the Atlantic, the mayor and his team have held a number of meetings with senior executives in the last few days to explore further opportunities involving the NFL and London. The talks were exploratory. We are at an early stage, but the signs are encouraging.’’

All six NFL games in London so far have been at Wembley, including the New England Patriots’ 45-7 win over the St. Louis Rams on Sunday. The two games scheduled for next season are also set for Wembley, and the NFL has a contract with Wembley through 2016.

But the Olympic Stadium, built for this year’s games, have yet to find a permanent resident. Johnson happens to be the chairman of the London Legacy Development Corporation, which is responsible for deciding how the Olympic Stadium will be used in the future.

A decision on the future of the stadium is not expected before December. West Ham, a London soccer team, is the leading contender to take up residency — and keep the running track in place.

The Olympic Stadium is not due to reopen before 2014.

The NFL said it has been in talks with local authorities in London for years about future possibilities.

The Jacksonville Jaguars have a deal to play one home game in London for four consecutive seasons, beginning in 2013. The NFL has raised the possibility of having a full-time franchise in London, although that is still considered a long shot.

I really think this is going to happen and obviously the driving factor will be money...........the NFL is the only major US sport that hasn't tapped into the worldwide potential.

Uhh, the game sold out in minutes I believe. Wembley was filled to capacity. I don't even know if England's National Team soccer matches do that.
