Planning and expecting are two different things. I plan on the Lions restructuring some deals, moving Backus out of LT, and maybe, just maybe being successful consistently. As a Lions fan, though, I expect the opposite.

Bush's contract was more then reasonable too. 4-year, $16M deal has a $4M signing bonus. His '13 cap number is $2M.

Quite frankly, I haven't been this excited to be a Lions fan this early in the off-season. I'm just glad we are being aggressive in free agency finally. GQ is a great pickup and there's talks that Delmas and Avril returning as well. Time to hit CB, OL, LB, and WR (yes WR) in the draft.

I was going to come in and comment that it was a bad deal, but those are actually good terms. Considering that the NFL is relying less and less on running backs who can take the ball 20-plus times a game and churn out four yards each time, Bush is a good buy at that amount, especially considering he can break the big play and can catch the football. Solid deal for Detroit.

I doubt they drafted him in the first round last year to play guard, but we'll see. If that is the case, it says a lot about him that he couldn't beat out Stephen Peterman.

Well we have to offensive line in round 2 since we're probably going defense in round 1. Two new guys at the tackles could end quite poorly. Most of Reiff's action came as that 6th lineman bullshit we did to telegraph the run.

What they say is they drafted him to be the future LT but then realized he was better suited to play guard. I hope they're wrong, but things could get ugly here. All of the weapons they have don't mean shit if the o-line can't do anything.

I'll tell you what I tell everyone. Lions fans are a different breed of human. We don't care about the regular season. Our Superbowl is in April and we always lose. I've been watching Detroit football for over 20 years and the cliche of "there is always next year" and "restore the roar" is both embarrassing and hilarious every year.

Fans of other teams are more excited about Reggie Bush being signed than I ever will be.

Lions re-signed FS Louis Delmas to a two-year, $9.465 million contract.

A Thursday report claimed Delmas had signed with the 49ers, but it proved erroneous. Delmas, 26 in April, has missed 13 games over the past two seasons with various injuries, but his knees and groin apparently checked out. A hard hitter with range, 5-foot-11, 202-pound Delmas is an absolute missile who drew Bob Sanders comparisons coming out of Western Michigan. His upside is to take the next step in his career as a premier cover safety with plenty of run-support chops. His downside is a talented player who can't beat the injury bug. Through four NFL seasons, Delmas has three interceptions, 16 pass breakups, three sacks, and two forced fumbles. He'll play free safety with Glover Quin now manning the strong side and Amari Spievey as the top backup.
