Im pro merging, but Rockets51 needs to be banned. I never liked that guy.

this thread has turned into a perfect example of why vsn sucks and why nobody would want to merge with vsn. here you have a thread that starts off as a nice discussion about another site vsn wants to merge with. a simple discussion with no final decision having been made. Both sites discussed things among their members and vsn seemed open to the merge, while rsz did not seem all that interested. So the merge is called off.

now vsn has turned to, lets bash the other site cause they dont like us....rsz is pussies and assholes...whatever. thats exactly why they dont want to merge with vsn. they have a nice little community that is about discussions...not full of 20 retards who troll all day without ever adding anything of value to any discussion.

It makes sense for a failing forum like vsn to merge with rsz. it made no sense at all for them to merge with vsn. Im sure they are well aware of the lame porn bombings and trolling of other sites. Or how we beg quality members of other sites to join our discussion only to flame them in ever social outlet possible.....why the fuck would they want to be a part of that? my guess is they are not dominated by retarded high school kids who use vsn to vent their daily frustrations since they arent man enough to do it in the real world

this is why nobody at vsn gives a fuck about vsn merging. this forum could shut down tomorrow and nobody would care. they would just goto whatever other forums they use and only miss the trolling they get from vsn.

the only thing keeping alot of people here is their bond from MM. the guys in the gameroom and nfl forums and some of the leagues....but if u notice, those guys are starting to slowly move away from this site too because they know this site offers no value unless you want to flame or troll other people

There is a portion of this site, that, the only reason they post, is to criticise the site. and thats fine. if its their shtick, well, its stupid shtick, but VSN is cool cuz you can say whatever you want.

i think vsn is fine the way it is.

yes, activity is lower, and that is to be expected with a community this old. but maynard is right in this sense: VSN has nothing to offer to any other forum, or to new posters.

It's sort of like this... my family has property in downtown San Pedro out in SoCal. it's in what is now a shitty part of town, with old buildings that are kind of falling apart. there is no parking in the area. but the building code is grandfathered like a motherfucker, its still standing, and you can still get people to pay a few bucks to rent out the store fronts. its not worth the money to completely renovate it, you cant change the fact that the neighborhood sucks and you'd be dropping a ton of cash in something that simply doesnt have the potential to return the investment. but theres still tenants paying rent.

in other words, its fine the way it is.

and honestly Rush if I were you i'd stop taking the fucking flamebait when people talk shit to you about it. I respect the fact that you take pride in the site and you are doing what you can, but, theres not much you CAN do and theres no need to jump through hoops a bunch of nerds on the internet are commanding you through.

the site isnt going to grow, because the same people who bitch about it not growing are the ones that go out of their way to bitch and moan about the growth attempts. and so let them bitch and moan. you will still maintain a userbase that will come here to check threads, because we've all been talking to each other for years, and VSN would not have lasted as long as if deep down we really didnt give a shit. its a niche. its a niche that isnt going to grow, and will suffer from some atrophe. noone is going to get rich off this forum or this community. but whats left will stay together as long as it can. and if it dies, it dies. this is the internet. it happens. but i have a feeling that 5 years from now, palooza will still be posting popularity contests, i will still get drunk and go to the chatbox, we will still make threads that talk about things that already happened, and people will still be bitching about the activity.

The merge was actually agreed to, but bcransom backed out last second. We had been planning the merge for almost a full 2 weeks before we said anything about it. The whole point of announcing the merge before the actual site opened up was to let everyone vent about the whole thing seperately instead of starting a bunch of huge flame wars. Of course, the main guys who argued against merging with VSN on RSZ was actually guys who had been trolled out of VSN such as rockets, jtraines, and this philly diehard douche that's shown back up. A lot of RSZ was for the merge and liked the idea before these fags came out of nowhere protesting and swaying the crowd.

bcransom btw was always somewhat leaning towards not doing it, he told me that multiple times.

Actually as somebody who knows many details about RSZ, the merge, and the dynamic of the community.....the merge was already done before that thread was created. Both staffs agreed to it, the domain had been bought in advance, the reason for "discussion" threads is just to ease the "HOLY FUCK OMG" feeling.

There is no "leaning towards" either way when it's already done...the equivalent to this decision was a bride having cold feet at the alter. Bcransom was our runaway bride. But VSN was fucking a latina on the side to her dismay.
