Lovie Smith, NFL Coach of the Year?

The Packers are winning in spite of McCarthy. The offensive playcalling can be quite offensive at times. See the Redskins game where Brandon Jackson was gaining solid yardage but then in the 2nd half the run game was abandoned to start throwing it all over the yard. I understood that a little better a few weeks prior vs. the Bears but even then the Packers should have attempted to run at least a little to keep the defense honest.

Thank you. McCarthy's playcalling has been questionable and sometimes downright awful all year. The fact that this team is still winning games with all those injuries is just a testament to the depth of the roster. I'm not saying that McCarthy is a terrible coach but I feel like we do not play to our potential week in and week out.

Completely agree, I think it will be Belichick because the Pats will end with the league's best record. I agree with you on Spags too, should get some consideration.

Todd Haley has Weis/Crennel as co-ordinators. Hell, I could be an NFL coach with those two as co-ordinators.
Lovie Smith gets a thumbs up for his work with the Bears.
Jack Del Rio probably deserves a little love.
Steve Spagnuolo has done a nice job turning around St. Louis.
Mike Tomlin deserves some love for surviving four games without Roethlisberger.
Bill Belichick's 2010 Patriots are his best coaching job since the 2001 Pats, but naming Belichick coach of the year is like saying Jessica Alba is hot. What's the point.

In regards to Lovie Smith I wonder what the difference was. Going into the season the guy was surely on the hot seat, as the media and fans were basically saying this was his last year. However, so far this year the team is playing well and will probably win 10-12 games. The media and fans love him......what has Love done that is different?

Spags is a great motivator, and has kept the players excited and playing hard, even during the one win season.

However, his game management is a disaster. He has no clue how to use timeouts or manage the clock. He is woefully conservative with a lead, which is why the Rams constantly blow second half leads and lose. He has taken points off the board three times this year, something that drives me nuts and coaches should almost never do. He dresses too many shitty defensive lineman who never contribute, while ignoring other positions (DB, WR), which almost always leaves the Rams short when someone gets injured.

He's getting better, but has a long way to go. He's a great lockeroom coach, but a very shaky sideline coach.

I dont know if any of the greatest coaches in the history of the game could have prevented what happened today. It was coming, and the defense gave up 2 80+ yard drives back to back. That game was over very very early.

Of course so is being a dish washer and the guy getting the grade A meal.
