Ill admit i fucked up and this epic fail of a thread is mostly my fault. I shouldnt have pushed so hard with my "idea" when 1) its radical & requires lots of explaning, 2) its possibly stupid, and 3) i hadnt fully thought it through...I just wasnt expecting it to be grilled & dissected & put under a microscope, it was only a general idea/concept.
However, im not gonna budge an inch on my thoughts of a rematch...most here completely hate it, while i see nothing bad about it...so we gonna have to disagree on that.

I was never trying to win an argument...everything here is about winning, zinging, flaming, etc...i need to learn how to VSN.
There really was no argument to win or lose here, i was simply suggesting an idea of how id like to see things work, i wasnt saying its "the way things should be". Its not like i expected everyone to like it and agree. My idea is flexible and if there are flaws i could consider tweaks here and there, i never said it was the perfect solution. Id still like something similar to it, and i still see nothing wrong with rematches, which is consistent with 47% of people outside VSN.
And what i meant with BCS having less of an impact under my idea is that there would be more teams with a chance to win the national title, because there would be a playoff between the top 6-8 conference champs (i havent yet determined if should be top 6 or top 8). I guess technically the BCS/rankings (id prefer the old school rankings) would have more of an impact because it selects the conf champ teams, but it has less impact in that it allows teams to battle in a playoff, it doesnt automatically eliminate 118 out of 120 teams, as it does now.
For a long time ive wanted conf champ teams to be selected differently, because 1) many divisions are extremely mediocre, producing a shitty title game, and 2) sometimes a team clinches their division very early, making the rest of their games meaningless. Clemson just clinched their division so it doesnt matter if they win any remaining games, they will still be in the ACC title game.
Its becomes all about semantics, winning arguments, picking fights, etc. Its no fun to post ideas here.

Anyways, moving on...after giving my idea more thorough thought, ive decided to make a key change to it...instead of the 2 conf teams selected by ranking, which is very flawed, i would instead propose they be selected by conf record, with the ranking only used as a tie-breaker. That way conf games & conf records would still be very important.
Under that scenario, this year Alabama and Georgia would both have the same SEC conf record, but Alabama the higher ranking, therefore Alabama would make the sec title game vs LSU, which was exactly my goal.

How conference champions are determined is actually the one thing the NCAA 1A does correctly. It's actually settled on the field, so no, even with your provisions it doesn't work for me.

Wanted to revisit this thread now that more of the college season has played out. What I am thinking is that the SEC does away with divisions and pairs up Alabama vs. LSU for the conference title game. Alabama defeats LSU, but its only LSU's first loss, so LSU only falls to #2 in the BCS rankings and they still get to play in the national title game...against Alabama! So they get to play 3 times in one year, while every other 1 loss team in the country and an undefeated Houston team get completely shut out of the national title picture. Great!
The only reason i wanted divisions done away with is to invite the top 6 conference champs to a playoff...so there would be no 3rd meeting, and Houston & Oklahoma State wouldnt get shut out.
