LSU-Alabama rematch for SEC title?

Instead of watching LSU beatdown Georgia 42-10, we could've watched LSU-Alabama for the SEC, which would've paved the way for the winner to play Okie State.

And if Alabama had won said rematch, that would solve literally nothing since it would be 1-1.

There is so much money tied in to ALL of the Bowl Games...you can't diminish them or get rid of them or break whatever tradition they think they have.

In video game land, sure, you could, but I'm trying to work in reality here where these Bowl Games are not going away, they are huge money makers for all involved...so, you let them have their time over December and its why I think it is important to maintain the Bowl tie ins for the first round of the "playoff" (IMO, really, its just a +2 format). Let the Bowl season play out and then for the four teams post-Jan1st, they play for an extra two weeks, which extends the season one week. Overall, no real concessions are being made by anyone and teams #1 and #2 get big gates for their +1 home game (ensures that the stadium will be packed and it cuts down on travel costs).

Listen, I agree with the Bowl system being archaic. But, it looks like its here to stay...just gotta work around it. It lines enough of the right pockets and until it doesn't do that or some sort of governmental intervention (even worse)...I don't expect much change.

I'd make a few changes to the Bowl system to include in my +2 format.

I'd shrink the number of bowls and increase the threshold to be eligible for Bowls.

No 6-6 teams allowed, and wins against non-D1A opponents do not count. So, 6 D1A wins with one D1AA win (making a 7-5 season) do not count.

ACC - 5
Big XII - 5
Big East - 3
Big Ten - 5
Conference USA - 3
Ind. - 2
MAC - 4
Mountain West - 4
Pac12 - 2 (not including USC)
SEC - 5
Sun Belt - 3
WAC - 2

Those would be the Bowl eligible teams...totaling 43...and if you needed to fill it out the rest, by selection you could add in a few teams on the basis they are >.500 in conference (Louisville in this example) or have 7 D1A wins but have a D1AA opponent (however, lost to them) on their schedule (Western Kentucky in this example).

If VT had beat Clemson, they woulda been ACC champs despite the fact they lost to them earlier.

I dont see the point of conference championship games if its not to pit the 2 best teams in the conference.

But i know its never gonna change, so im 100% on board with Larry's playoff proposal which includes 2 at-large teams...the teams that got fucked over due to their division.

Although im thinking there may be some years in which 2 highly ranked teams play for a conference championship, and the 2 at-large spots provide a way for them to get in the playoffs even if they lose, making the game meaningless.

Fuck divisions.

Id have the playoff games hosted by the top 4 conference champions, that way it would give incentive to win your conference.

Top 6 conference champs and 2 at-large teams make it, therefore TCU would get in over WVU by being ranked higher.
