LSU probably has the best running back stable in the country, finally has a competent QB, and is currently 9th in the nation in rushing offense (279 yards per game) and 33rd in total offense. They are averaging 100 more yards per game than Alabama.

I'd say they have a better offense, yeah. As for who has the better team, we'll find out soon enough. But I can say that this LSU team plays great on special teams, as has become the norm, has its usual elite defense and also happens to have the best offense it has had under Miles since 07. Whatever team is better than that must be pretty damn good.

Not directly, but both LSU and Bama had scheduled one Sun Belt team + one AQ conference team at that point in the season. Washington is not as "good" as Michigan, but it's not like should throw out the game result either. They are an actual team from an actual football conference (though the performance of Colorado suggests otherwise).

Let me get this straight, LSU is catching flak in this thread for scheduling Washington and a Sun Belt team? I get that Washington is not very good, but they are from an AQ conference and it's absurd that Senser would imply that the two games I was citing stats from were against "Savannah State" (while he also concluded Oregon was one of the country's best teams after watching them blow out Arkansas State, but I digress) ...

Are stats accumulated against the Pac 12 and Sun Belt not admissible? That's gonna be tricky when it comes time to evaluate Oregon's resume...

^ That is a really dumb implication. Pretty ironic too since Alabama played North Texas last season while LSU was playing Oregon and yet we were all comfortable comparing those stats.

Washington isn't that great, but it's not like Michigan was actually a top 10 team either. Whatever the gap is between the two programs, they are closer to each other in quality than either is to Savannah State. And North Texas and Western Kentucky are pretty directly comparable.

I am not trying to prop up Washington, merely stating that we should feel reasonably confident comparing results from those four games, and that Senser's implication that some of the results are not legitimate is absurd.

Yeah, I must be foolish for thinking that Oregon is good. They are usually finishing behind Washington in the PAC10 standings every year.

LSU's offense looked terrible against a defense that couldn't stop Louisiana-Monroe last week. But you guys are right...LSU looked much better than Oregon, who beat the #22 team in the nation 49-0.

Knew this bump was coming ... They did look terrible. Penalties, turnovers, etc. They can't protect the passer due to losing their starting LT for the season.

(BTW, UL Monroe's offense is very fun to watch. Kolton Browning is a stud and their coach OOBL cheeses on every 4th down.)

Fortunately we still have our defense, more or less the same one that held Bama out of the end zone for 7 quarters and helped us beat Oregon by two touchdowns last season. When you hold your opponent to 90 yards passing and 183 total yards, the bar is a lot lower, you can survive *only* 350 yards and a pair of untimely fumbles.

As for the mythical pecking order, I am totally fine with Oregon jumping us. I really don't care about polls or style points this early in the year anyway. With 3 of the top 6 teams left on the schedule, LSU will have plenty of opportunities to prove its worth.

Jadaveon Clowney showed Jarvis Jones how defensive end wad supposed to be played last night. I'm not even sure Connor Shaw saw the front of Jones' jersey the way the USCe line was handling him with ease.

Anyway, that "BEST OFFENSE EVARRR" that looked so great on paper has gone up in smoke with the patchwork OL. Mettenswag can't even get time to operate, so it's more like Cutlerswag at the moment.

Doesn't get any easier this week with the 'Cocks coming into Baton Rouge. Florida's defense is incredibly athletic, but it's possible that South Carolina's defense is even better. And it looks like the Ol' Ball Coach is having fun again, back to his vintage days as an ace play-caller.

At least it's a night game in Tiger Stadium.
