Madden 12 Impressions Thread

And what is up with the stat tracking during the game? I can't even remember how many times I'll hear Gus Johnson say "Urlacher with his sixth tackle", and I count six as well, but then his next tackle the graphic will show five.

I've seen it happen on sacks too which really sucks.

Still wondering what the deal is with this and if they will ever fix it.

My main concern is the imported draft classes are kind of fucked. Heard some stuff about a major issue with shoulder pads looking all fucked up.

I like both Madden and NCAA this year. Madden disappointed me though with the Draft Class issue. I've never been one to want to use the MGD classes. However, the other day I was thinking about that issue and, quite honestly, when Franchise was introduced on Madden '99, they were no draft classes. It was all MGD's and I loved that game!

If you can get over not having DC's and realize that using a MGD provides more chance and a greater feeling of risk/reward, then you can really enjoy Madden. Plus, on top of that, being that I don't post my franchise anymore, I like to add a few more twists into my franchises. I still play SIM and realistic, but, I add in former legends to my game. Nothing like seeing Ray Nitschke, Dick Butkus, Bronko Nagurski, etc. in the game. I don't over-saturate the game with legends, but, I do add some here and there.

I believe there is. I am not positive though. Hopefully another member can chime in on this.

When you start your franchise, you can choose the option to edit players during franchise, below the choices of wanting the CPU or you to control FO decisions.

I love this game, I didn't really start playing it until I got home for winter break, but I've been binging on of late. Started up a Browns franchise a couple weeks ago.

Year 1 - 7-9, dealt Peyton Hillis and Colt McCoy in the off-season (Hardesty was a monster for me, and I couldn't play well with McCoy), and took a QB in the first round.

Year 2 - 9-7, made the playoffs as the wildcard. Beat Denver in the first round, then got beat 24-14 by the Steelers in the divisional round after my rookie QB got knocked out with a broken collarbone in the first quarter. He won ROY with some solid passing and rushing stats.

Year 3 - 2-2 so far. All of my games have been shootouts (my defense is very mediocre despite decent ratings) so far.

Hopefully you didn't buy this game. I just got it on Wednesday and put it up for sale on Thursday. I cringe at the thought of continuing to play this game.

What difficulty are you playing on? That sounds really exciting the way you rebuilt your team and every win means something. I play on All-Pro. It seems I'm lucky if I lose three games on that difficulty but All Madden is a joke. And tweaking sliders gets so tedious.

Fuck this game. I'm almost done with it and contemnplating just sticking with NCAA. The INT's are fucking ridiculous. Through seven games I have 12 TD's and 21 INT's with Cutler. Now I know Cutler isn't the most accurate QB in the NFL but the worst QB's in the league have better TD/INT ratios than that. The CPU defenders catch EVERYTHING in their vicinity. I've even dropped their INT slider down to 20 and it hasn't affected a god damn thing. Not a fucking iota. I would guess that five or six of those INT's were my fault. As for the rest of them it's like the CPU forces my QB to throw balls AT the defender. For instance, I'll have a receiver streaking across the field on a drag route with like 3-5 yards of separation. I'll throw it and it will either be way overthrown or way underthrown and, HUGE SHOCKER, head right to a defender who will pick it off. And of course there have been several INT's where I have a receiver coming across the deep middle on an in route and the LB will leap in the air and pick it even when it;s a laser throw by Cutler. So you're telling me a LB with a 30 catch rating is going to be five yards from the line of scrimmage and leap and catch a fastball from Cutler? GTFO. While I still get a decent amount of picks on poorly thrown balls by the CPU I've had countless passes go right to a player like Urlacher, with a much better catch rating than these other LB's and drop it every time.

I actually had a game yesterday where I started out with two straight TD passes. I figured maybe I had figured things out. Nope. Four straight INT's followed.

This game is such bullshit.

I find it hilarious that I can significantly alter the CPU sliders and it seems to have absolutely no effect whatsoever, but I can alter my sliders ever so slightly and it changes everything. I changed the CPU INT's from 50 to 20 and the Pass Reaction from 50 to 30 and nothing changes. The CPU defenders would still intercept the ball every change they got whereas my players, even CB's like Tillman that have good hands, woul just swat the ball away. But you better believe that when I changed my Run Blocking from 50 to 45 the game changed drastically. That's tight, a change of FIVE points on my end was like night and day but a change of 20-30 points for the CPU doesn't change shit. I went from getting 140-200 yards/game with Forte to getting right around 100.

I expect this kind of bullshit on All Madden. But All Pro? Come the fuck on.
