I am not finding myself as drawn to this game as I once was. I loved the first 2, but this one seems almost like too much of noir style. Every review I've read seems to be echoing that as well. Rockstar, IMO, has been doing this with all of its games (and yes I realize that that is an unpopular opinion).

I always considered the Max Payne series as a noir. In fact, it was the first true one that I had played. So I'm not exactly sure why you're so shocked that it's keeping that theme.:dunno:

I don't know where you got the idea that I'm surprised it kept the noir theme. I love that about the old games and appreciate keeping it. I'm just saying what I've read/seen seems like they are overly repetitive with some of the noir trappings, to the point that it is, for lack of a better phrase, "too much of a good thing".

We'll see though. Like I said, I think Rockstar does the "too much of a good thing" with all of their games (again, unpopular opinion), so I'm not necessarily surprised, and I still hope for the best.

The only "worries" I have about this game are if it still has that bit of comic relief in the dialogue (not just from Max, I know that's there) and I've mentioned that in this thread before. Also, I'm still not a fan of the game being set in Brazil now. It's such a drastic change for the series and I always thought the gloominess of New York added to the game. Who knows though, maybe this change will catch me off guard and be a nice change, but at this point I'm still skeptical.

This should be a must buy for anyone who is a fan of 3rd person shooters and who played max payne 1 and 2. And if neither of those apply to you, I dont see how you can watch gameplay videos and not want to purchase this.

The gameplay videos that I've seen are exactly what have semi-soured me on it. It seems so derivative at times to me (and this is without even acknowledging the fact that it seems to have literally stolen the idea/thematic effect/story from Man on Fire.

Like I said, I hope it's great, I love the series, but what I've seen doesn't leave me confident that it will be something I'll really enjoy.

25MB patch. It took all of 10 seconds on PS3. The install takes about five minutes.

Because of a snafu at Best Buy, and them not being able to get my DLC code to show up, they gave me a Season Pass code for free. LOL.

It was actually supposed to be emailed at soon as the transaction was complete, but it never did. The prompt for the gift card never came up either. It was all screwed up but it worked out in the end. I already redeemed my code for the Season Pass pre-order on PSN. It was like a 108kb file.

The more interesting thing was that when I went to get the game there were like six or seven people ahead of me at the game desk. ALL of them were picking up Diablo.

I saw that but figured it was a screw up. My buddy received his code via e-mail as soon as he picked up the game.

EDIT: Now that I have everything downloaded, the first free bit of MP DLC is the "Gorilla Warfare" Loadout Pack. :lol:

You're given a Gorilla Mask to wear (more adrenaline from killing fools from the back), a Lucky Coin item (gives you more loot when you search bodies) and a Booby Trap item (acts like Dead Man's Hand where your body explodes if someone tries to search your corpse after you die).

Again, it's free as soon as the game boots up to the main menu.
