other than this being a rockstar game i am wondering what is the draw for you guys? i hardly remember playing 1 or 2 cant remember which. All i know is it was a big let down with slow motion bullets. that was a long time ago in a galaxy far far away. so obviously there is a reason for people to want this one

I enjoyed Max Payne, and I'm enjoying Max Payne 2 right now. I really like the noir, graphic novel stylized narrative, and while I don't use bullet time much, it does add a cinematic quality to the gameplay.

I always planned on getting Max Payne 3 at some point, but it's only been within the last month and change that I decided to get it on release based on the videos.

Payne 3 just adds to the shit that you've been playing with the BC2 crew since it's inception.

Plus you're not going to get better than that Best Buy deal until at least Christmas this year so why not jump on it now?

I would expect more Max Payne/Max Payne 2 with an upgraded engine and better shooting mechanics. It certainly won't have the open world trappings of the games you listed.

If I had to boil it down to the basics, you should expect a linear third person shooter with melodramatic dialogue and a film noir style.

Honestly, you should buy it simply because of the Rockstar name. They almost never disappoint, and even when they do, you end up with LA Noire. Which isn't too shabby. I will literally buy just about every Rockstar game until they put out crap for 3 straight years. Thats the only way I'll lose confidence in them.

actually 30 mins is actually quicker than normal for them...most of them run 40-60 mins.....MMOs and RPGs run over an hour easy.

Never heard of them before, but I can see the interest some people would have. Only games I could see myself actually watching for that long would be sports games just because they don't have a story per say.

I am not finding myself as drawn to this game as I once was. I loved the first 2, but this one seems almost like too much of the noir style. Alot of the reviews I've read seem to be echoing that as well. Rockstar, IMO, has been doing this with all of its games (and yes I realize that that is an unpopular opinion).

The Quick Looks are pretty good if you're on the fence about a game as they give a pretty in-depth preview of the game. You'll certainly glean more from those than a video review filled with three or four second clips.
