Meeting Goes Wrong, Cutler Officially asks to be Traded

I don't really get why you guys say Cutler is completely in the wrong. Did he handle the situation very well, no not at all. McDaniels handled it way worse in my opinion. When you take a job as a coach I understand you want to make some changes, but trying to trade one of the top 10 qbs in the league behind his back is low.

McDaniels basically came into the situation and tried to make a smooth move that turned disastrous for the team. Cutler has every right to be pissed, one of the best offensive minds in the game bet the house on him and it was paying off. I mean it was his third year in the pros, he's getting settled in and his career was really looking up. Now McDaniels rolls in and says yeah this Cutler guy, fuck him, Matt Cassel is legit.

The Broncos were a team right on the brink of being an NFL power, they just needed some defensive guys. Offensively they pretty much had all the pieces in place, it was the defense that needed help. McDaniels should have been fully focused on building up that Bronco defense, he would've looked like a great coach next year when Denver probably went 11-5. As a first time head coach he officially pissed off the franchise QB, and probably messed up locker room morale. Now Denver doesn't know who is going to be taking snaps this fall and that is not a good way to start your season when you want to contend for a Super Bowl title next season.


All that said, I hope Cutler comes to Detroit because watching his cannon arm throw it deep to Calvin Johnson would be amazing. I'll gladly give up our 20th pick and one of our third rounders. I like Cutler, I think he could've moved into top 5 QB status after this upcoming season.

Detroit does want this to happen, they were part of the three team trade that would've brought Cutler here which started this whole thing. Why wouldn't they want a good QB who is actually proven in the NFL to throw to possibly the wide receiver with the most potential in the league.

Draft picks are great, proven players who have been in the league for three years and made the pro bowl at the QB position are even better. This addresses a need we'd either have to figure out in this draft, or the next one.

Week 17 @ San Diego - 33/49 316yards 1td 2int
Teams rushing v San Deigo (not counting Cutler) 8 Carries 86Yards 10.75 YPC

In the most important 3 games off the season according to stats (since cutler supporters love them so much) Denver had a run game , and Cutler had 3 mediocre performance.

Outside of the initial denial of trade, McDaniels isn't doing much wrong IMO. He's setting the tone for how things will work for him.

Thats nice. If McDaniels' only way to show his authority is to threaten to get rid of players, then he is already in WAY over his head. I smell Lane Kiffin version 2. What "tone" is McDaniels setting here? Thats an interesting choice of words on your part. He had time here! I think he was sacked like 4 times last year. Our tackles gave up a combined 1 sack. The guy doesn't make rushed decisions, he makes stupid decisions. I can tell you haven't see many Broncos games.

No I haven't seen many Broncos games considering they are never on in my area. Most of what I know is from a friend of mine who is a diehard Broncos fans and watches the games on the web.

Also to add to the no run game stat , Denver had the 12th best rush game in the nfl last season averaging 4.8 Yards per carry and 116.4 Yards per game

Jay Cutler was also sacked 10times in the whole nfl season , less than alot of quarterbacks.

I have a Cutler jersey hanging in my closet, he was my favorite current player before all this.. But I am a Broncos fan, not a Jay Cutler fan.

Fair enough and for all of Cutler's faults, I still want the Lions to go after him. The Lions have never had a quarterback with the potential Cutler has. I mean our best quarterback over the past twenty years was Scott fucking Mitchell. Thats it, this team is utter garbage at the QB position.

Knowing our luck Cutler will suck at QB here too, but I'm willing to take the risk.

I'll give you that based on production. Fitz is no doubt a beast.

And as for the other comment, I'm glad I don't have to think about it. It takes a lot of balls to shit the bed with almost every pick since you've been a GM, and be the laughing stock to always take wide receivers, and STILL go after Calvin Johnson. So if I can say anything good about Matt Millen, I commend him for having a backbone and believing in himself, and picking CJ regardless of what people said.

To have the year he had last year with the QBs we had, and the offense we had (him being our ONLY weapon), is simply incredible. I'm loving our new direction with Schwartz/Mayhew, and I can't wait to see this guy in the future.

I have to agree wth you .....I'm not sure when it happened, but since when did Cutler become a guy who is untouchable? The real issue hear is that Cutler due to his massive sized ego thought he was untouchable and McDaniels basically pooped on Cutler's parade. Now Cutler's butt is hurt and wants out. However, Cutler also knows he's under contract and isn't realistically going anywhere (lol.....unless its for Cassel), so he's playing the squeaky wheel role in order to force his way out.

Now given the fact that the other option is Chris Simms Cutler is demanding a trade to put the organization in a bad spot. Cutler is one of those guys who has to have his ego stroked to feel important, and it appears McDaniels didn't do that in their last meeting, so his butt is hurt. In the end McDaniel and Cutler will get together, McDaniel will throw a bone or two to refill Cutler's ego and everything will be okay. However, McDaniel has really screwed this thing up, but not so much for going after Cassel, but instead going after Cassel, not getting him letting this story get out.

Still, the source said, the Broncos made no promise to Cutler that he was untradeable, which is why the three-year veteran didn't necessarily share the Broncos' opinion about the success of the call.

Yes McDaniels wanted to replace him with Cassel, anyone with a brain would realize that Cassel knows McD's system and turns the ball over far less frequently than Cutler. While the Patriots failed to qualify for the post season (even at a very respectable 11-5), Cassel won down the stretch when he had to. Cutler had four fucking chances to win his division and failed like the dickhole he is.

Anyone with a brain would realize that Cassel would be a better fit in what McD wants to do in Denver. You don't need the BEST QB to win a superbowl, you need the RIGHT QB for what your team is trying to do on the field. Cutler is not the right QB for what this guy is going to do in Denver. Get fucking over it.


Cutler was crying about how McDaniels has no confidence in him because he wouldn't declare he was untouchable. IS this not what he was crying about?

McDaniels preference for Cassel over Cutler is irrelevant. I'm sure many coaches in the NFL would prefer a guy like Brady or Manning over whatever dickhole they have playing QB for them. I don't see other QB's crying about that now do I?
