Michael Mitchell... still laughing?

This guy hits like a truck. He's got incredible range and plays the ball pretty well too. I had to look him up after hearing all the talk about him, and he's not nearly as bad as people made him out to be. Obviously this is a highlight video so it will show his greatest plays, but his angles and aggression are definitely impressive to say the least.

Yes I'm still laughing because 32 teams scouted the guy and all but 2 apparently had him rated nothing higher than a 4th Round pick. The other 30 had him rated as a 7th rounder or undrafted FA.


The Raiders took him in the 2nd Rd.

I think Mitchell has potential, but the Raiders drafted him way too early.

Mike Mitchell played Sub-par football on a sub-par team against sub-par competition.

5 pro bowls don't say he was a good safety, but Roy Williams play on the field says he was a good safety. He did his job and that was to take risks, make big plays, and try and change the game on defense. In Roy Williams hay-day he was very good at this.

It wasn't his job to be a blanket in the secondary who could shut down half of the field. He did his job and he did his job better than 99.9% of the safeties who had the same job as him.

About Mitchell, like others said, it really doesn't matter what he did. If he becomes a great safety then good job Al Davis, but he was still one of the biggest reaches in draft history. He's a guy they could have gotten with a 4th, 5th, 6th, or even 7th round pick.

The Bears potentially taking him 2 picks later says maybe Al Davis was on to something because Lovie Smith knows defense, but it was still a tremendous reach in an already porous draft by the Raiders (as was DHB).

I am not doubting they picked him a little high but I would have loved to have that guy on the Bears. Having Mike Brown never healthy pissed me off because a safety who can lay a huge hit on you will leave players weary about stretching out for passes and cautious when running.

I will be getting this guy in madden. Believe it.

I am not saying there aren't other safeties in the class that don't make big hits. This dude seems like a monster....but that is completely basing his play off of the aforementioned highlight video.

If you can't watch highlight videos of two players and notice some differences between the two then you need to have your eyes checked.

Mitchell's highlight video is phenomenal. It shows you exactly what he is good at and what he is capable of. If you are looking for the type of player that can ignite an entire defense because he is willing to take the other guys head off then Mitchell is your guy, his highlight tape is a clear indicator of that.
