I need to trade for a pitcher in my Rangers franchise. ASAP.

Ideas?

You could probably trade either Teagarden or Saltalamachia (sp) for a decent starter.

Ah right I forgot I have Max Ramirez in AAA too so yeah that definitely makes a catcher expendable.

I like Clay Buchholz too. The Sox weren't particularly willing to consider that though in real life were they? IIRC both teams they had discussions with wanted Clay for a young catcher and they balked at it so..

Signing Ben Sheets or Pedro Martinez wouldn't be too farfetched would it?

You could sign Pedro and have him start right away, although IIRC Pedro wants to play for a contender. Would the Rangers fit that?

Sheets is likely in real life but he won't be ready to pitch until at least late June. So if you sign him, in order to keep it realistic, I wouldn't let him pitch until around the All-Star break.

I'm tossing around the idea of trading SP- Neftali Feliz, C- Jarrod Saltalamacchia, and 1B- Chris Davis to San Diego for Jake Peavy. San Diego would be getting a great deal there for Peavy and I'd get an ace out of it. Not sure it would be worth it on my end though as Feliz's upside can eventually find him on the same level as a Peavy.

With the Marlins I don't think I'll need to be trading a whole lot. That is unless players are struggling, but that shouldn't be the case since I'm pretty good with the them.

Yeah I do as well. Especially since it's my favorite team and I like everyone on the team... (EXCEPT CODY ROSS WHENS HE IS SUCKING). Dan Uggla has his moments, but unless he is really really struggling and I need another player or position, he won't move either.

Yeah not sure Peavy would waive his no trade clause to go to Texas either. He had a very short list of teams he'd go to and I don't think Texas was on it.

You might be able to swing something with the Pirates for a guy like Maholm. I assume you're looking for a current/future ace.

Another guy would be Donald Veal of the Pirates. He was a starter coming up for the Cubs system before the Pirates took him and now he's a reliever. Might be worth looking into.

Im Tampa and Bartlett's D has been putrid and Percival outright blows.

No way the Cubs deal them both. They might part with Theriot but it's doubtful and no way in hell they deal Marmol.

That's about all I can think of for fast shortstops, that are readily available. Most of the other fast ones (Rollins, Reyes, Furcal, Ramirez) wouldn't really go anywhere.

I edited my reply into my last post after I saw your post, but like I said the D'Backs are pretty thin at second base so it's tough to say.

Hairston can play 2nd base, so I suppose if you gave them him and Bailey it would be realistic.

D'Backs have Montero and Snyder, they don't need a catcher. And they certainly wouldn't give up a 20 year old pitcher with potential in exchange for that package.

Man I thought I gave them a good deal lol. Hairston can play 2B, but he can also fill in everywhere else. Ramon Hernandez could start for them or he could mentor the younger catchers. And Homer Bailey is... Homer Bailey.

You'd be alright if you took Hernandez and Carmona out of the deal and just made it Hairston and Bailey for Lopez and the other random dude you had in there.

They wouldn't really want Hernandez to be mentoring their young pitchers anyway. He's got a reputation as being a lousy defensive catcher and a bad game caller. He's known for his bat.

I'm gonna play a couple more games and wait to see what I'm gonna do. I'll try and be more aggressive on the bases in the meantime and see if Phillips, Hairston, and Dickerson can cut it speed-wise.
