I don't think your going to have a lot of luck finding good young pitching talent. Try to target bad teams with older pitchers that can help you win now. I suppose come trade deadline you could always make a run at Jake Peavy. If the Blue Jays are struggling, Roy Halladay may be available as there were halladay rumors last season. Mark Buehrle, Jose Contreras, Gil Meche, Erik Bedard, maybe Matt Cain.

all of those guys would have to be picked up if their team is sucking and usually around the trade deadline

Yeah, I agree. It was just one of those things that I was considering about Hamels. I highly doubt I was going to make a move for him. I actually like Cain and Zito from the Giants. Peavy would be interesting in Texas but I know I would have to give up a boat load for him including some good prospects. I'm saying though that by trade deadline if I can get a good #1 and a good #4/5 starter at the cost of Young, Milwood, and McCarthy/Jennings/Gabbard, I should be fine. I'm trying to view my options. If I want a #1 starter, I'd have to give up Young and Milwood and I'm not sure if I want to do that. If I want a decent #4/5 starter (like Ian Kennedy, Andrew Miller, Greg Smith), I wouldn't have to give up as much. I still gotta see. I'm a long ways from the trade deadline, but I know my primary concern is pitching.

it was sarcasm. Why would you take Edgar over Young? Renterias range and fielding ability went to hell last year. It would be smart to move Renteria over to 3rd, his arm is still solid, and his lack of range wouldnt show as much if he was playing 3rd base.

In real life, I dont think Renteria would be too upset. Or he shouldnt be. He knows he doesnt have the range anymore, thats why I think he would make the swtich. he just cant run down anything anymore. But its not my call, I was just stating my opinion.

eh, i guess i could see it working because hed probobly respect young as a veteran, but renteria is a damn good fielder and has played SS every game but one in his entire career, just doesnt make much sense
