ya they wouldve accepted the offer of hanson (4th best prospect in baseball, 2nd pitcher only to david price) and escobar+

especially because they only play the braves once or twice a year, minimizing the amount of times theyd have to face him

peavy to the dodgers is a completely different story, youre talking about facing just him 5 times+ and playing in the same divison, giving you virtually no shot whatsoever at making the playoffs for the next 5+ years

what the padres need is
1. middle infielder
2. starting pitching
3. catcher

with no likeable middle infielders of the future in LA, you can write that off, what would they want in return? either loney or kemp, add that with kershaw, and and some prospects

ONLY then would you even think about trading Peavey to the dodgers and kill your playoff hopes for the coming decade

I think you're over-valuing Peavy a bit. He won the Cy Young once but outside of that he's been injured on and off and struggled at other times in San Diego.

No way that the Padres would even realistically expect the Dodgers to give up Kemp in addition to Kershaw and other prospects. Kemp basically IS their franchise. I don't know enough about the Dodgers to suggest any other prospects, but the way you're portraying Peavy is a bit ridiculous.

i value him with santana when he was in trade rumors, he might not be AS good as santana (id rank santana the 1st or second best pitcher in the game, with peavy in the top 10) peavy is just if not more valuable to the padres than santana was to the twins

youre right, the padres wouldnt realistically expect the dodgers to give that up, thats why they offer it, for all the reasons ive explained before, there is no way they give him up in division without getting a small fortune in return

No way Peavy is near Santana because of health concerns. Granted, he's pitched a good amount of innings over the course of those several years, but he's had injury problems in the past.

And how is Peavy more valuable to SD than Johan was to the Twins? Either way, I think we just agree to disagree.

Also, the Padres are actually good this year, so it's not like they would be terrible without him. Peavy is only 3-5 so far yet they're sitting above .500. They wouldn't be all that terrible. You also have to keep in mind that the Twins also had Joe Mauer, Morneau, etc, so Johan had more help on offense.

Peavy cant pitch away from Petco, He gives up almost 1 run higher away from Petco and gives up more home runs on the road

i know that the twins had better offense, even more reason why peavy is more valuable, if they are over .500 later in the season, i dont see them trading him

and i dont consider him injury prone if he isnt sitting out games during the season, 27+ is just fine a season if you ask me

which is acceptable for any pitcher, even if you trade him to LA his stats wont drop much if at all, still playing the same teams, and he usually pitches well at dodger stadium

i remember his last start he pitched 8 scoreless there or some shit

You don't have to do anywhere near that good of an offer. I found that not including Hanson but doing Soriano + Escobar + Cole Rohrbough (or another B potential pitching prospect) works just as well.

Ok. Finally got the game and started my chise up.

I am the Cubs

I simmed up until Memorial Day Weekend then played 4 games. Lost all 4. I still have the best record in baseball but I have my issues.

Picking up the hitting has been tough but I'm not doing badly. Just have to get used to having an eye for the strike zone at the plate. My offense hasn't been awful, but Bradley and Ramirez are both batting around .260.

My biggest problem has been my bullpen. Outside of Cotts my bullpen sucks. Heilman, Vizcainio, Samardzija, etc have all been bad. Marmol has been fine and I haven't used Gregg yet.

I need a good right handed middle reliever. Any thoughts?

Zumaya is on the trade block with Detroit. Not a middle reliever but would be a definite "splash" pickup for a struggling 'pen in Chicago.

Thoughts on the Zumaya deal or any other guys?

thanks man... I was thinking I wouldn't have to give Hanson up because in the game Peavy is 0-4 with a 3.86 ERA. The padres are in second to last place so they are trying to get rid of him

only problem i see is soriano, if youre not trading hanson, id add another B-level starting pitching prospect in there
