Nah, I know he doesn't suck. I just said that because holding off on that last pitch was absolutely inexcusable. It wasn't a disgusting curveball a la Wainwright on Beltran in 2006, but rather a fastball right down the middle. The fact that he swung at one in the dirt to start the at-bat makes it even more.

As a free agent, Maholm knew he wanted to remain in the NL Central, where his familiarity would be an asset. The Cubs ended up being an attractive option, as the lefty is 6-2 with a 5.48 ERA in 11 career starts at Wrigley.
