[ALL] Mortal Kombat or Street Fighter?

When you were growing up were you a fan of Mortal Kombat or Street Fighter?

My pick is Mortal Kombat it was an easier game to play when you were younger and just loved the music and characters from it. Being I only had a SNES there was no blood but that didn't matter it was still better then street fighter back then.

One of the main reasons I think MK shits all over SF is one simple thing, US vs Japan. As I've gotten older I've hated Japanese games more and more. Most of them are fucking terrible. Now I'm not saying SF is terrible because I don't like fighting games so I don't have an opinion either way. But so many things about the game turn me the fuck off. The character models are so fucking dumb. The character names? Dumber. Ken? Really, that's the best you can come up with? Although I must say I think Tekken had even worse characters.

And I swear if I see the word hadouken (sp?) one more time on twitter I'm going to punch a baby.

Street Fighter. Its actually balanced. MK has never, EVER been a balanced game. Fun, but very far from balanced.

If I had to pick, Street Fighter just has cooler looking moves. The only super cool moves in the MK series are Fatalities.

Note: I am not an avid player of fighting games. This is based on highly limited knowledge of either series.

Mortal Kombat has always been easier to pick up and play and the shock value of the game shits all over SF's.

That said SF's game is very difficult to master, A lot of people don't like Mortal Kombat's "Dial a combo" where you just press A, A, B, A, B, A, X and pull out a huge combo that looks nice in comparison to Street Figther's combo system, which is ridiculous considering how hard it can be to actually link up SF's combos.

SF has always been the deeper game but for me personally Mortal Kombat has been more fun and easier to play.

Street Fighter was the better technical game. Mortal Kombat from II on brought some good stuff in with the combo system and juggles but it was still quite shallow gameplay-wise. I loved the gameplay of Tekken overall. The different styles were great and the combos were superb. It's really just a matter of what you feel like playing at the time. Street Fighter was great if you wanted to show off. Mortal Kombat was great if you wanted to see lots of blood. Tekken was great if you were good at it and playing for money..

I had a genesis in middle school and MK2 and SF2 Championship Edition were both in heavy rotation. I got SF4 as a trade for Madden a few years back and apparently fighting games just dont do it for me anymore. I bought MK2 when it first came to psn and ive played it probably 10x.

street fighter by leaps and bounds. Like most people already said MK is is fun but SF is technical and not everyone can just pick it up and be good.

I personally liked deception a lot.

Noob-Smoke was cheezy as fuck but god damn it was fun just fucking with people, that character combo definitely had some ridiculous combos.

I don't think Street Fighter is a better game it's just a lot deeper. Truthfully I don't have the time to sit around and practice my timing (because that's what SF is, Timing and skill) and it's a lot easier to press pause and just memorize the xxbxxaxxa combo that looks just as good as the ones on the Capcom game.

idk.. personal opinion and all.... I also love the fact I'm not knocking people out I'm brutally and horrifically killing them in plenty of different ways :yep:
