[PS3] Must have games?

Okay, for those of you listing games that are both on the 360 and PS3, and have a multiplayer mode (besides NBA 2k11,) don't bother with those, because I either am going to get them for the 360 or I don't want them. Thanks anyways though.

inFamous seems like a good choice, I'll most likely rent though.

I've played Resistance, Killzone 2, etc. Resistance is an absolutely terrible game. I couldn't stand how absolutely bad it looked on top of the gun play just being super shitty.

Killzone 2 is just.. Normal? That's why I'm waiting for 3, see if they bring anything new to the table.

Uncharted 2 is a great game, don't get me wrong, the controls are a little qwerky though, not a chance it could be one of the best with em'.

I'll most likely buy LBP 2 and Killzone 3 so no need to worry about those.

you have to be careful on this forum with what people recommend for the ps3....alot of really biased opinions from people who seem desperate to make others think they didnt waste their money by getting a ps3. you really want to get your opinions from reviews and videos and demos. gamespot always has video reviews and i think they are pretty fair with their scores

that modnation racers is a fun game to play. its kind of a kids game imo...very mario kart-ish and only worth your time if you like that sort of thing

i wouldnt play MLB the Show if your not a baseball fan. Its ultra realistic. not saying you wont enjoy it, but if your not a fan of the sport then you probably wont appreciate how real it is...wait for the new one if you do try playing it

LBP....i own this one for my 10 year old. its a side scrolling platformer with very clunky controls. the big draw is all the user created levels. the kids enjoy it but my 10 year old is even moving past games like that and into more complex games

uncharted 1...the controls are even worse in this one. its short and totally linear. both 1 and 2 have every move you make pre scripted meaning that when u come to any area the decision for what drake will do has been made by the games design. you dont think or make any choices for any areas...except the puzzle areas but even those are pretty black and white

killzone 2 ranks right there with the resistance games imo. they are just not fun shooters and with a market thats flooded with great shooters, these are probably not going to excite you.

infamous. i bought it and just returned it. Its not bad, but it felt very repetitive in the mission design. the powers look pretty cool but you unlock them all rather early and just upgrade them to level 3. you will find yourself using the same 2-4 moves most of the time

heavy rain....DL the demo before you think about renting this game

demons souls. now that is the best game ever on the ps3 imo. an RPG where you get to level up and customize your weapons and armor as you play. you get to explore for loot. the combat is fantastic and its a gorgeous game to look at. super smooth framerate....just a fantastic game. the difficulty got the best of me though. you can not save during a level. you collect souls which is the currency in the game to upgrade. you will play a level for 2 hours and get to the end and die and you lose all your souls. you then get 1 chance to get back to the spot where you died to pick up all the souls you lost....if you die on the way, those souls are lost forever. the risk reward factor is huge in this game. You also get to summon a player to your game to help you....and can also have another person enter your game to try and take you out....u can enter other peoples games the same way. there MP is really quite different and very cool. no voice chat though. And people can leave notes in the game too to offer warnings and whatnot. expect one of the biggest challenges you have ever seem from any game

Thanks, I have one problem with some of the multiplayer games, I mostly buy games that have long lasting value. Where I can get attached to a campaign AND a multiplayer, or even if the multiplayer is good enough I'll take that. My only problem is, for some of the tactical games like Mag, Socom, MGS4, etc. I have trouble believing that when I join a game, that I'm going to have a team that understands tactics. If anyone plays any of these, lighten the situation on that for me, because I know I won't have any troubles; based on playing some of these online before with no previous knowledge of the game and absolutely destroying people... Though I have played some of the early socom games, and the first few MGS games.

its just like any game on XBL where if you have a group thats using headsets and communicating then you will probably have a good tactical group. But if your playing with a bunch of lone wolves then you know how that will usually go

i cant recall if you can hear thru the tv. u can use a usb headset if u have one or any blurtooth of course. If you decide to get online with MGS4 let me know. i just got it yesterday and wouldnt mind checking it out online

how you liking the ps3 so far? did you set it up to stream media from your pc? imo, it is much better at the media stuff than the 360. i love the ps3 controller as a remote for media playback and love using it to stream media from the pc. Also, in case you didnt know...the ps3 allows you to take media from your pc and copy it to the ps3 hard drive. I love this feature cause it saves you from coping stuff to a flash drive then saving it to the ps3....from the ps3 just select a file on your pc and hit triangle and then copy it over. if u like listening to your own music in games this is a great feature

I can't rememeber where I read it but I saw a bunch of posts on another forum about MGO. They were saying that hardly anyone plays online now and the ones that do are elitest douch bags.

The storyline and atmosphere of the Resistance games are what make them fun for me. I'd rather campaign Resistance than any other fps. If you're talking multiplayer, then I'd perfer the COD's. Although you can buy most "great" fps on any platform, so as far as "must haves" for the S3..... Both KZ and Resistance are on my list. jmo.

i hear ya...i am more about the gameplay and controls. being awed by graphics is always nice too, but if i dont like the gameplay then the looks dont matter.

story lines in most games are irrelevant to me

thats why these heavy story driven games are not worth it for me. If its gonna be driven by a intriguing story then i want it to be a RPG game.....which is why i want to be able to get into MGS4 so bad. its story is integrated so well with the action. and the action is top notch......i have struggled to dedicate myself to it

I can't recommend you getting Mass Effect 2 any higher. It is a phenomenal game that deserves every ounce of credit it gets.

MGS4 is a terrific game. So much history with this series that it has its own encyclopedia/timeline database. I downloaded it for free off PSN if you wanted to check it out.

Yeah, that encyclopedia is awesome. And if you are about to dive into MGS4 Maynard and either haven't played the the previous three games or can't remember what happened, it's a must.

if you havent played the first three MGS games i wouldnt even bother playing the 4th one (even with that database thing). its so cutscene heavy and story based you would be so incredibly lost (i couldnt imagine maynard sitting there watching hours upon hours of cutscenes not having a clue whats going on and still enjoying it). i played all the MGS games and still found myself scratching my head at times trying to remember the relevance of something. MGS4 is still incredible gameplay wise (i didnt care much for online though) but i find it hard to recommend it to someone who isnt well versed in the metal gear solid world.

exactly why i never bought or played it. I only beat 1 and 2 and was lost a little in those. Fuck epic japanese stories.

Yeah, I slept on 3 forever. Then I finally scored a copy of Subsistence and was hooked as soon as I put it in the console.

And it made 4 that much better because I played 3 and 4 back-to-back.

i played a MG game before. i want to say it was 1 or 2. It was before that training ops MG game was released. I also played MGS4 a few times. Just never got by the first 3 hours or so. Got to some gun dealer...black dude i think.

this one had the cutscenes but they transitioned so well to gameplay that it was much more enjoyable. i am determined to get into this game. not for the story but for the stealth play...i love that shit
