I feel like his lack of consistency with the Raiders years put a slight stigma next to his name in the minds of most fans. When you think best of all time, you think of the consummate professionals, guys that do it in and out every single day. With Moss all I get is a physical freak with the maturity of a child and I'd never want a guy like that on my team, even with his production.

its funny because you just described Isaac Bruce, a guy with similar stats but is much more forgettable than Moss. both Hall of Famers but Moss will definitely have left behind a much bigger legacy than the mild mannered Bruce.

I guess? But Moss blows him away in TD's. Bruce never made an All-Pro team made less Pro Bowls and his "similar stats" to Moss took 3 more seasons to accumulate.

Bruce is a 3x All-Pro and had less Pro Bowls because he was far less popular, which is exactly my point. despite what ram29jackson said, Moss will be remembered much more than a guy like Bruce who had comparable stats and played during the same era.

Ten 1,000 plus yard seasons.

Nine seasons with 10 or more TDs

Six seasons with 15 or more TDs

Holds the record for most TDs in a year w/23.

Tied for second for most TDs in a career with 153. Rice has 197. It's not likely he'll catch up to Rice, but it is plausible.

He's 5th in yardage with 14,858 yds.

8th in receptions with 954.

Out of ever WR ever, if you go by measurables (size,speed, vertical, etc.) You'd find he's in the top 3 maybe 5 in every category. He made a washed up Cunningham look all-world. He made a suckjob in Culpepper look all-world. He made an all-world QB in Brady look all-universe.

I don't mind somebody hating on Moss and saying something like he doesn't have heart, or something along those lines. But he's proven to be one of the top WR's of all time. In his prime, when he's motivated, he's the second best WR to step on the football field. Period. So use your head and stop being a hater man. :stupid:

PFR doesn't list any at the top..which is where they show the ones that are usually recognized. The one at the bottom is from TSN which isn't usually an "recognized" honor.

Meh, maybe but it kind of misses the mark because no one viewed Bruce as good a WR as Moss during the time and his stats, although "comparable", took 3 more seasons to put together. Simply saying the stats are "comparable" fails to put the players and stats in context.

Well Reed plays FS and Troy SS so it would be Troy or Ronnie Lott. I'd still pick Lott.

Lott played and earned a pro-bowl at three positions. CB, FS, and SS.

It was, however, at free safety, where he had the freedom to cover the whole field, that he may have been most effective.

In 1986, he played 14 games at the free safety position before an injury sidelined him for the final two games of the season. Still, he led the league with a career-most 10 interceptions, recorded 77 tackles, three forced fumbles and two quarterback sacks. It was perhaps his finest season.

PFR lists Lott at FS for 7 years and SS for only 2 years of his career. In fact he made the first team all-pro as a FS four times, and only once at SS.

It would have to be Lott or Reed. I'd have to take Lott and Troy P.

In some schemes (particularly Tampa 2) the difference between FS and SS is not all too significant beyond the occasional run support given by the SS. What sortof defense did Lott play in?

Lott was a freelancer a lot like Polamalu now. You'd see him fire through gaps to make stops in the backfield, drop back 15-20 yards then come up and clock a back on an outside run or in the 2nd level or pop guys running 10-15 yard routes to jar the ball loose. He was also pretty good in pass coverage but mostly he was there for help over the top.

A lot of people go to him getting part of his finger amputated to be able to play, but my favorite thing about Lott was that he never let a guy put a move on him. He would go right through a running back like it was nothing. If you hesitated, you were done. Ray Lewis like tackling, with Rod Woodson ball skills.

all Randy's stats benefited no one and barely himself, he aint nothin' but a great nothin' in the football world or anywhere else like the rest of you morons...as a matter of fact, he should be the poster boy of this site because he seems to embody the ignorance that fools like you stand for as though its important to do so

Randy is just Andre Rison with more numbers and there aint nothin great about that...its sad, most guys after a few years start to wake up and get it and mature...not Randy, him and Owens are two of the longest lasting dumb asses in NFL history...much like most of you here...

Randy is just Andre Rison with more numbers and there aint nothin great about that...

Thats a terrible comparison. Rison was a quick guy with great hands who excelled a system that could utilize his abilities (run and shoot). His numbers with Atlanta were much better than his numbers on other teams.

Moss was a fast guy with so-so hands who could make average QBs good (Culpepper) and good QBs great (Brady).

The two players are very dissimilar.
