Clippers/Pacers Trade In The Works?

The Los Angeles Clippers made a laughable trade offer to the Indiana Pacers this past weekend. The offer, according to sources, were Clippers backup point gaurds Jason Hart and Mike Taylor for Mike Dunleavy.

The Pacers were quick to decline the original offer from the Clippers. However, this leads Pacers GM Larry Bird to believe that the Clippers are discontent with their current backups for Baron Davis and are also looking to bolster their starting lineup at the 2 (or 3) spot with a 20 point per game scorer in Dunleavy (whose father is coincidentally, also the Head Coach of the Clippers.)

Rumor has it that the Pacers countered with a deal involving Jamaal Tinsley and Dunleavy in exchange for center Chris Kaman.

Kaman, who had a breakout season last year, is now caught in a frontcourt logjam after the Clippers aqquired Zach Randolph earlier in the year. Kaman has found himself coming off the bench behind Marcus Camby so far this year and doesn't seem to be pleased with the situation.

The Clippers are currently 6-1 and look to have their eyes set on more than just a playoff berth so far this season.​

Getting about 12 minutes a game. I'm running with a 9 man rotation which you can see from my player stats update. He got about 18 last game because Foster was in foul trouble for a majority of the early going. He's solid.

Winds Of Change Blow Into Indiana

Indiana Pacers GM Larry Bird has responded to the Pacers slow start by giving the team an in-season makeover, swinging a trade with the Los Angeles Clippers on Wednesday to acquire big man Chris Kaman and wingman Ricky Davis.

"I think it was an opportunity for us to get better," Bird said, "a guy who can average a double double every night, adds a presence down low for us."

The four-player deal - the first big one of the season for Bird who promised to turn around this organization prior to the start of the season - requires the Pacers to part with marksman Mike Dunleavy and banished point guard Jamaal Tinsley. The Clippers also received a 2009 2nd round draft pick from the Pacers.

"We felt like we needed to shake things up a little bit," Bird added. "We wanted to add a solid scorer and rebounder in the frontcourt to give us better balance and help take some pressure off of Danny (Granger).

The deal lines up with the recent objectives of both teams, who according to NBA front-office sources, have been the most active in trade discussions in the hectic first two weeks of this NBA season.

The Clippers looked to unload a disgruntled Kaman who found himself playing behind Marcus Camby after the Clippers acquired Zach Randolph from the Knicks earlier this season. The trade also opens up significant playing time for rookie Eric Gordon who has shown flashes of his ability so far in his 1st year in the NBA. Dunleavy (whose father is currently the head coach of the Clippers) joins the Clippers and bolsters an already strong starting lineup in the Clippers emergence as one of the top teams in the Western Conference at 6-1.

This deal basically fell into the Pacers lap after the original offer from the Clippers involved both of the Clippers backup point guards in Jason Hart and Mike Taylor for Dunleavy. Bird took advantage of the Clippers eagerness to land a solid backup point for an injury-prone Baron Davis to add a much needed presence down-low in Kaman.

Kaman and Davis both passed physicals will both be inserted into the starting lineup as the Pacers aim to win their 3rd straight in their upcoming game against the Nets at the Izod Center in New Jersey.

He was unstoppable. Defensively too. It's as if they really were trying to get revenge for the win I got against them less than a week ago.

Tough loss, maybe you'd be better off starting Daniels. He has a high release so he can shoot well off the dribble.

Daniels is a better defender which I really need off the bench right now. I kinda struggled in this past game with Davis but still getting used to him. Davis plays with a lot of energy though and grabs a lot of boards surprisingly. (11 in that last game.) And surprisingly, I don't shoot all that well with Daniels. Not yet at least.

Yeah, besides Davis' inability to slow down VC or shoot consistently, they had decent games.

Good game for Granger, Kaman and Davis nonetheless. Tough loss though mike, I know how you feel though...I have been losing as of late too...

Granger is solid. I expected to lose with this team lol. Thankfully I got some expirings. I'd be happy to squeeze into the playoffs with the 8th seed. My sliders make this really challenging and pretty frustrating to say the least.
