All-Star Snubs, Flubs?
Chris Paul and Dwyane Wade are two stars who will be missing the all-star game.
The NBA All-Star Game, when the league's best gets together to play a marvelous match of basketball. But is the league's best really going to be there?
Chris Paul, who is having an MVP-worthy season so far, averaging 22.2 points per game, 6.6 rebounds per game, 9.3 assists per game, and 2.2 steals per game, was not voted nor selected by coach's in to the all-star game for the Western conference.
The same can be said for Dwyane Wade of the Miami Heat, who is second in the league in scoring, as well players like Kevin Martin of the Kings, Rudy Gay of the Grizzlies, Deron Williams of the Jazz, Dirk Nowitzki of the Mavericks, and Paul Pierce, Kevin Garnett, and Ray Allen of the Celtics. All of the players named in the above paragraphs undoubtly deserve all-star spots, but are there players in the game that don't?
Looking at the Eastern Conference's roster, players like Derrick Rose, Jermaine O'Neal, and Lamar Odom are lucky to have made the team. There's no doubt that Dwyane Wade and Kevin Garnett deserve spots on the roster more than they do.
For the Western Conference, Jason Kidd and Marcus Camby, two starters, could easily have been left out of the game. Point guards Chris Paul and Deron Williams both deserve positions on the team more than Kidd do, and a player like Dirk Nowitzki or David West should be placed ahead of Camby.
So this leaves the question: Are we really going to be watching all-stars play on Sunday? The answer: Not all of them.
