Man...I knew Utah was overrated even at #14, but I didn't think by this much. This is getting ridiculous.
They started off 7-0. They're not overrated, I don't think. I think TCU is even more beast than people have regarded them, and I think ND is underrated. I really hope Kiffin and crew don't sleep on them. JEWELED SHILLELAGH GAME'S ABOUT TO BE POPPIN.
ND is just THAT underrated.
In all seriousness, I admit that I'm a little surprised at how ND has played thus far (defensively especially), but has everyone forgotten the Pitt game at the beginning of the season? Utah kept shooting themselves in the foot and let Pitt take it to OT. They committed 10 penalties in the first half and had some turnovers and pretty bad special teams miscues.
Let's not forget about the emotion aspect of the game too. Utah is coming off an thumping that was supposed to be a statement game for them. Meanwhile, ND is coming off a bye week, and the last two home finales have resulted in tough losses to some terrible teams. I'm sure some of the Irish players want to change that.
This is a man who knows what he's talking about. I was thinking Utah was going to win this game after ND lost to Tulsa, but I'm thinking maybe ND's starting to find themselves and Utah's starting to lose themselves.
The shellacking they took from TCU is just unbelievable. I can't say for sure, but maybe they're a changed team. Or maybe they
are just overrated. Still a good team, and still a good win for ND.

In other news, I was a tad surprised at the lack of defense in the UGA-Aub game. I was rooting for UGA, but oh well. They couldn't stop anyone. Aaron Murray was really pretty great, though. Quite evasive at times. But their d was completely nonexistent. I mean, Newton and crew handed it to them.
Newton - 2038 passing yards, 1465 rushing yards; 21 touchdowns, 6 interceptions; 17 rushing touchdowns
FR TB Michael Dyer - 859 yards, 6 TDs (broke Bo's record for Auburn freshman rushing yards)
SO TB Ontario McCaleb - 683 yards, 9 TDs
With the game against 'Bama, the SEC championship, and a bowl game (probably the national championship), it's probable that they'll have two 1000 yard rushers and it's not inconceivable they'll have three.
Also, I think Newton's leaving after this year. This way he can avoid the backlash from any investigation. Like McKnight and Carroll jumping off of the SC boat before it started sinking.

Speaking of SC, I think this may have been a pivotal win for them tonight. It's entirely possible for them to finish the season 10-3 if they can win the rest of the games this season. Too bad there's no bowl games for us.
We had better not sleep on anyone, though. At Oregon State can be a tripping stone, as can at UCLA, and Notre Dame at home is going to be deceptive. We/they had better be prepared.
And, Woy, I rescind my comment that Barkley is mediocre. I still think he's not great, though - he's far too inconsistent for my tastes. I certainly don't think he's a top-tier NCAA QB. Maybe staying two more years will help that.
