There are 5 undefeated teams at the end of this season, yet computers and bias voters are going to decide who plays in the big game. For me, the meaningful part of the season is officially over.. now its all super sized exhibition games.

Except for the fact that the BCS was created exactly for scenarios such as this. Take a cluster fuck and spit out a championship game. You can complain that the BCS system exists in the first place, and rightfully so, but to blame the BCS for 2 of the 3 preseason top teams winning out when the BCS standings don't even come out until week 8 is a little odd.

Preseason polls really got it right then with Oklahoma and Southern Cal top 5.

what I want to know is, why the lack of consistency?

I remember this happening in the Notre Dame - Michigan Game, I remember it happening in the FSU - Miami game.

Why did Texas get the review and those teams didn't?

shit like this really hurts me, I love the sport, and although I do believe they did the right thing by checking the clock, you don't do that unless you do it for everyone.

I swear, it's like they tried to make sure Texas had another shot.

Because it's Texas, the BCS, and Mack Brown would have thrown a hissy fit if it wasn't reviewed.

Texas has no right being in the title game. The almost got beat by an inept offense in Nebraska last night..

I think what he's trying to get at is the BCS works given that it's primary function is to determine the two best teams for a matchup in the national championship game.

Now, whether the system and the parameters that govern such a decision are flawed or whether a playoff is better alternative is up for debate. I personally feel there is a lot of room for improvement in the current format, but a season like this makes a good case for a playoff.

I never said because they were in the top 3 in the preseason that means they are the best in the nation.

I was simply pointing out the fact that Born4corn blaming the BCS for 2 of the top 3 teams from the preseason poll winning out and making the National Championship game is absurd seeing as the BCS doesn't dictate those preseason polls and isn't even released until Week 8.

The preseason polls have nothing to do with the BCS(in context of why Born4Corn is blaming the BCS for the obvious flaws in the entire idea of preseason polling). Blaming the BCS for the preseason polls is wrong. That's the point. You knew in August that if Texas and Florida/Alabama won out they'd play each other in the National Championship. The BCS' hands were tied before the season even started.

Uh. No I'm not.

The BCS in no way dictates the preseason polls. The BCS is at the mercy of those polls for 8 full weeks before the BCS even applies it's formulas. If the BCS didn't exist this season and you had Florida Texas and Alabama all do what they did then you'd get the same National Championship result. In effect the BCS' "job" this year was to do nothing. Essentially the only time the BCS is even used is if at least 2 of the 3 preseason top teams lose.
