im sure when the Nets move to brooklyn they will be able to draw players better than in Jersey. Here in Brooklyn is pretty much all about basketball and i know so many people cant wait for them to be here. So im sure if the Nets are good here they will become like gods.

As for me i will stay a Knicks fan but it is nice to have a basketball Arena not to far away and in the same borough.

Thats true, they will basically be like the Mets but its still NY and they can still draw a star or 2 especially since this is Brooklyn. Brooklyn has its own drawing power, more so than any other borough in my opinion at least.

Only with people who grew up as Knicks fans. But a ton of people move to Brooklyn every year now. There could be new fans from that base, provided they don't already have allegiances to another team (ie me with the Hawks or whatever). Plus the future generations of children who grow up in the borough will grow up with the team in town. It won't be such an automatic "I like the Knicks" type of deal for them because they'll have another option. Brooklyn has its own distinct identity and Brooklynites have a bit of a complex when it comes to Manhattan (which played a huge role in the Dodgers/Yankees rivalry of old). I think that the team could gain an edginess or cool factor if handled properly. These days there are so many counter-culture and alternative types living in Brooklyn, that being the "other" NY team could actually be a selling point. (Changing the name to something less retarded wouldn't hurt either.)

I'm still always going to be a Hawks fan, but I will definitely attend a ton of Nets games since it'll literally be down the street from me. It takes me 30 minutes to get to MSG by train, while the Barclays Center will be five minutes away. They won't get my fanhood, but they'll definitely be getting my NBA-viewing dollars just on sheer convenience alone.

Maybe or maybe most of the NBA is like CP3 and laughing at the Jazz and Nets knowing Williams won't stay with the Nets long term and while the Jazz got a few players back they will really miss Deron.

I really like this deal for the Nets and much more than what they had for Melo, because in Williams there getting a better player who plays a position that is much more important to the franchise. The only issue now is getting some FA's and drafting appropriately. The Nets have a better chance of building around Williams than they did around Melo.

I heard one report where Dallas wanted to acquire Devin Harris and move him to Utah for Williams because they knew Utah liked Harris and was looking to get rid of Williams.

Knicks are going to go after Paul harder than they would Williams...and in that case he would have no other choice but to stay in NJ if he wants to have a chance at a superteam. Nets have the cap room to do some damage so the next few seasons will be interesting.

better player? Arguable. There are arguably 3 better point guards than him in Paul, Rondo and Rose.

Melo, imo, is a top 3 small forward, with perhaps Durant over him, and LeBron being the clear cut #1.

Also, more important to the franchise? Not necessarily, look at the past 15 years. Which team has the point guard as their best player?

Lakers/Spurs/Bulls had role players starting at point.
Miami had Shaq/Wade. Pistons had solid, not great, players at every position.
Celtics are the one wrench in the past 15 years, but that's unfair since that team started 3 future hall of famers. Even then, rondo wasn't "the guy" during the championship run, it was more his coming out party than anything.

Rondo? The only PG's the could be considered better than Williams is Rose or Paul and if a person believed they were it would only be by a very, very slim margin that I couldn't even figure out. At this point neither Rose nor Paul do anything that Williams can't do. With these three PG's it comes down to a matter of preference.

I don't understand your point. Most rational people lump Williams with Paul and now Rose, so even if a person believed Rose or Paul were better that would still make Williams #3, which is were Anthony is at his position. You even said arguably Paul or Rose could be better than Williams, but they arguably aren't as well....there is no debate at SF...James is clearly better than Anthony and most would take Durant over Anthony as well. Based on positional value an elite PG is always better than an elite wing scorer not named LeBron James or Kevin Durant. Williams can get a team 20ppg while still keeping everyone else involved in the offense, which is why he gets 10 apg. Anthony can get 25-30 with a few rebounds, but that's about it.

I don't get your point of bringing up these teams, because none of them had a PG of Williams caliber and Anthony isn't of the same caliber as Kobe, Duncan (in his prime), Jordan, Wade, or Shaq...and in NJ he wouldn't have been surrounded by guys like the Celtics or Pistons had....he actually would have been in a worse position than he was in Denver. As far as the Spurs 2007 team it could be argued that Tony Parker was the best player on the team during the playoffs.

Anthony is great player, but he's never been the guy that was going to lift the franchise to championships, because he isn't the leader nor playmaker. Anthony's game is about scoring and not much else. This is why he needed Billups to even make the Nuggets viable contenders. In saying this there is nothing wrong with what Anthony brings, but he's a second tier star.
