Don't take credit for this you loligagor. (stll adding the lulz). I have said for the past 2 seasons that the regular seasons are way to long, and playoffs are what people want to play for. It is more exciting when a championship is up for grabs and people will get their games in. Where as, playing 20-30-40 game seasons, someone who has lost 10 out of 10 will end up quiting anyway.
But yeah, even if we have 14 guys, and you play everyone in your conference twice, home and home that is 12 games, which is a decent size number. And you just make the rule that you play 3 PEOPLE per week and you have the regular season done in two weeks. 3 people = 6 games, bam and you get right into playoffs. You play someone two games at a time, takes about an hour and you're on your way. That way also, if someone doesn't make the playoffs, they aren't waiting weeks upon weeks to get back into things.
And for playoffs with 14 teams, you could do what like International hockey days. Only do the top 4 teams per conference, that way people have to actually play to make playoffs, rather then just hoping they have some shitty guy on their side. 8 teams playoff and you could run
1st seed Conference A vs 4th seed Conference B
2nd seed Conference A vs 3rd seed Conference B
3rd seed Conference A vs 2nd seed Conference B
4th seed Conference A vs 1st Seed Conference B
That way if you want, you get different match ups in the playoffs rather then playing the same guys over and over again. Playoffs can be done in two weeks easily with best of seven series. Full season completed in a month.
