You do play now, BAP and HUT. Play now is 3rd period of Boston/Vancouver, which I don't mind this year because then you can a lot of their play shit with Chara in front, Kesler going to the net, and all the other stuff.

Yeah the 23rd was an awfully easy date to predict, EA had no other day to pick from.

Same demo as last year, which is good cause the NHL demo is usually pretty varied in what you can try out.

Yep I agree. They finally came around last year with the Madden demos giving a full 5min quarter game, but not NCAA lol.

Can't see why playing a full 3 periods would be a problem..

Even more so when they have all these new features to show. The reason for demo's are not for us, because we will obviously buy it. It is for joe-blow who is thinking of it. And if he doesn't see the improvements because of a small play time, then what good does it do.

Remember when they put those make a wish kids on the normal roster and they would show up in free agency. Thats all I could think about when I seen this.

You'd think they'd have enough sense not to include them in the offline mode.

Does anyone else feel like this year is a really bad year for NHL? Like all of the things they are going on and on about is really not that big of a deal?

Presentation comes to mind. What did they actually do to the look of the game. Every video you see has them in the Winter Classic. But unless you are Pittsburgh or Washington you don't get to play it in your season mode, you can't select rinks in OTP/EASHL, so basically it is a 'when your friends come over' type thing.

Goalie fighting really isn't that big of a deal, yet they have been hammering on it forever. It will get old very quickly, and for EASHL teams, unless you're down and out of a game, having a goalie fight just takes off a player and doesn't help the team at all. And if it is in OTP, god help us all.

I may throw dynamic goalies into this thing because they haven't got the goalies right in years, and I'm just waiting for the "crash the crease" shit to be an ugly thing where you tap the goalie and get a penalty all the time. Same thing kind of goes for playing in front of the net and using net controls. Unless you are use to parking yourself, which not many people do, it means nothing.

The biggest thing that is saving this game from being a massive roster update is the action tracker because it makes BAP playable now. Might actually get through years of your season rather then not getting through one. Only thing I wish they would do is make it so you don't just take over the spot in your position. Like I pick centre and get selected by the Penguins, I should not be taking Crosby's spot on line one. I would like it to say "we want you to move to the wing" and you can say yes or no, if you say no, it may still throw you on the wing, and you drop moral and may be traded. But atleast Action Tracker gets things done quickly. No more watching computer pass to point, pass along boards, pass to point, pass along boards, pass to point, etc.

HUT/EASHL stuff is what it is. Adding tiers doesn't change to much of things, and a few good little things non-game is good for eashl.


This year, don't know what it is, but I just felt it was a 'meh' year. Sure I want the game and it is still the best sports game IMO, but this year was a light year on things.

I thought last year was a pretty "meh" year for NHL too.

The Winter Classic, I think I read it isn't even included in season/be-a-gm modes....

Goalie fighting, I agree, who cares.

The dynamic goalies is pretty big and I'm looking forward to seeing that in action, as well as the continued evolution of physics in the game. That's really the biggest selling point to me.

Action tracker will make BAP worthwhile, I can see myself doing an entire career if it's working well. I hope the goals and stuff set in BAP make it so that it's harder to overtake proven NHL stars, although if you start off with 4 years of CHL, the NHL roster makeup will have changed and it won't be as important by the time you get there. You may get stuck in the AHL for a season or two as well.

Some nice touches to EASHL but otherwise the objective hasn't changed and I'm not big on the "everyone makes the playoffs" crap, as well as the "4 game winning streak at end of month = champs" shit. Make it a best of 7 at fuckin least and just match up teams who are at the same spot in a series (so a team with a 2-1 lead plays a team down 2-1)

I just hope they are hyping all this lame shit because they worked on game mechanics a ton.

The one thing I do have hope for is in the one gameplay video I noticed the cpu dman actually attack the guy coming down with the puck. Right there I thought they didn't just fix the insanely passive defense ai did they?

I could dig that best of seven idea. You shouldn't be able to zoom through playoffs in two hours. We use to start at 10pm, be done playoffs at like 12:30. And the one loss out thing is just a waste when you play a full month of good hockey, then the one team you are against is some stupid french canadian screw balls, and your month is over.

Physics is the other big thing which is a constant improvement, and atleast they are getting that right when they move foward every year.
