No he isn't. Just like I said, this happens all the time - especially in the post-season.

Zito last night, Detwiler in the NLDS, Holland in the WS, Randy Wolf in the NLCS last year...we get shut down very easily by mediocre-at-best LHP. It's like we completely disregard our hitting approach from the day/night before and try to force too much. Zito struggled with his control the start before, so of course we're out there swinging at the first pitch every other AB, while allowing fat fastballs to get in there unscathed as second strikes. It's the most frustrating thing to watch, especially with an offense of this caliber.

I said last night we'd either put up ten on Zito or get shutout over seven - no in-between. Once we didn't score with men on second and third (sidenote: why isn't Lynn bunting in that situation or even swinging the bat altogether? He's an atrocious hitter, don't let him have a chance at killing the inning.), I knew it'd be the latter.

Good call. And with these two teams and their "never say die" attitudes, this is the exact ending we deserve.

I strangely feel a lot more confident about tomorrow in comparison to the last two games, but yeah, that's something you gotta wonder. Nonetheless, it's been one hell of a year for us.

The sox won and maintained their momentum while the rockies sat for 8 days waiting to play...and they got beat

Matt Holliday's very doubtful for tomorrow. He had a MRI on his back during the game and never made it to the bench, despite being available to pinch-hit.

Matt Carpenter should have found a way to start either way with his success rate against Matt Cain.

We played a 5 inning game today and we're playing another one tomorrow against some minor league guys to stay loose. 2006 is exactly why I wanted the Cards to finish this off the other night. Baseball is one sport that doesn't give teams much benefit from sitting around.
