NLDS: Cincinnati Reds vs. Philadelphia Phillies

Tonight's game is big. I don't want the Phils to fall behind 1-0 in the series and give the Reds any additional confidence.

It's funny to me that all the talk is about Halladay is pitching for the first time in the postseason and how he will do. Did it ever occur to anyone that this is Edinson Volquez's first postseason start as well? And he has to do it on the road in a hostile environment? I'll take my chances with Doc all day, every day. If the Phils play their game, they'll win.

I know the regular season matchups were close, but both teams are completely different since they last met in July. Especially the Phillies. I don't want to say this series is an automatic win, because you never know what will happen (especially in a short series), but if the Phils lose, it will be a big surprise.

Reds fans haven't seen the postseason in 15 years, there are dudes on this board who weren't alive in 1995. So most of us are happy to see the first round and don't expect to win, not that we don't want it. but lets face it they are serious underdogs, they are not only taking on the top seed and hottest team coming in, the Reds are the coldest team coming in.

The Braves are beat up, exhausted, and nearly blew their spot against a Philly team that didn't even give a shit the last series. The Yankees, Twins, and Rays limped into the playoffs playing meh baseball, and SF nearly blew the division the last weekend.

The Reds have been feeling good since the Bruce HR.

But yeah, for this team to be two years ahead of schedule, with all of these great looking young players, anything we do beyond this point is gravy. We have a SP staff built for the regular season, the deepest in the NL. But we have no ace, and we have to face teams with 2 or even 3. It'll be tough.

Yeah, the Reds were one of the few teams in this field to actually come into this feeling confident.

I still think they are huge underdogs in this series, but Cincinnati should be proud of their team. The hitting alone on that team is enough to make other teams envious.

Once the young arms get going (and Cueto/Volquez become more reliable) they will be a force in the NL for years to come.

With two outs and a runner on first, he fielded one up the middle headed towards the first base side, instead of throwing to first to end the inning he tried to backhand flip to Phillips at second, rolled it there, and everybody was safe.

From there, Halladay gets a single to drop in and Victorino singled with the bases loaded. Volquez didn't even last the inning. 4-0 now, and the game is probably over now.

Yep turning point of the inning right there. The guy has a history of makin bone headed decisions in the field.
