No more kickoff wedges? No more onside kick formation?

I just heard on the radio about the new NFL rule changes for the upcoming year, and I don't think I'm going to be happy with them. I need to find a good link outlining the changes.

But four other rules were adopted by the 32 teams:

— The initial force of a blindside block can’t be delivered by a helmet, forearm or shoulder to an opponent’s head or neck. An illegal blindside block will bring a 15-yard penalty.

— Initial contact to the head of a defenseless receiver also will draw a 15-yard penalty.

“Our clear movement is to getting out of the striking in the head area,” Pereira said. “We’re reading about injuries that say spinal and vertebrae. We’ve got to try something.”

— On kickoffs, no blocking wedge of more than two players will be allowed. A 15-yard penalty will go to a violating team.

— Also on kickoffs, the kicking team can’t have more than five players bunched together pursuing an onside kick. It will be a 5-yard penalty.

That was the best part about HS Football special teams, being in the wedge and fucking people up. No more in the NFL I guess.

The onside kick rule is so that teams don't do the onside kick where they bunch every player in the middle of the field. Those are dangerous and quite stupid.

That's understandable, but what also needs to be understood is Football is a violent game.

These rules have taken even more away from safeties being able to effectively do their job unless they're Ed Reed, meaning all of the hard hitting safeties are going to begin to vanish into thin air purely because of the fact that having a physical guy playing safety might not be the best choice, especially if it means your going to get 15 yards pinned on you every time they do their job.

I can understand the rule, I just don't like it. but I thought the onside kick rule was bullshit when they first implemented it, now they do this stunt, I wonder if they expect anyone to actually be able to recover an onside kick... at first it made sense, you have that first line go in there and clean house, while the second line goes for the ball, they took that out because people were getting blown up, I guess they forgot they were playing football, and not Tennis.

IDK, most of these rules just seem like so much trash to me, and your asking so much of players, how else do you defend the perfect pass that Manning would lay in there, you smack the hell out of the receiver, because Manning throws it to well to actually get a hand on. but if you smack the hell out of the receiver, make sure not to hit him how you want, but you have to think about the hit and how your going to hit him with the split second you have, and make sure your helmet, shoulderpads, or forearms don't touch his helmet...

Players are getting hurt more because the scouts and owners don't care that they are juicing. Taking away shit that has always been in the game is horrible.

The shoulder to Helmet only has to do with a defenseless receiver. By defenseless it means the receiver doesnt have the ball. If the receiver has the ball or is coming in contact with the ball then he is fair game and should be hit as hard as long as it isnt helmet to helmet according to the rules. No where does it say you cant hit shoulder to helmet on a normal play.

I dont know what the NFL constitutes as a defenseless receiver but I am pretty sure if they have the ball or the ball is touching them then they can get popped.

I know the second I read that kickoff rule, I thought about having 3 "wedges" of 2 players each going about a yard apart up the field, which is perfectly legal according to the new rules. I wouldn't worry about this, these coaches get paid millions of dollars to think of something.
