Earlier this morning, President Barack Obama officially declared the NCAA Football section of the Operation Sports forums a federal disaster area, clearing the way for significant aid for the much-maligned message board.

"I pledge to help the OS NCAA community in any way possible during its time of great need," President Obama said.

The boards have been hit by a salvo of crushing blows recently, as waves of bad news have left the community in shambles.

It began with the revelation that the rosters that will ship with the game are likely completely inaccurate, as some teams may not have any freshman.

The community was hit hard again when gameplay videos revealed NCAA Football 10 would essentially play the same problem-plagued way it has since 2007.

The early rebuilding efforts were setback when the news came that Teambuilder slots will only be provided to players who bought the game new, leaving gamers who rent the game or buy it used out in the cold.

The most recent – and most significant – blow came when it was learned that one of the "New Features" of the game was the ability to purchase dynasty boosts with real money, destroying all sense of hope that the community may have had left about the direction the development team was taking.

"We've lost everything," OS member Moostache said. "Our whole community lays in waste."

Obama is scheduled to tour the devastation by helicopter on Monday.

It's amazing to me how one offseason can completely destroy a game. NCAA has remained the constant in my next-gen life since Madden has sucked goat ass...and now it seems as though Madden will take top spot, and NCAA will go into rebuilding mode.

I just want to know how you can fuck up a game so bad in under a year?

ncaa 09 was a speed fest.

i played in a OD for 3-4 seasons and these guys thought it was sim to just bomb to their 99 SPD guys all game, or run countless off tackle plays with their 99 SPD backs.

guys would start 85 overall backs with 99 spd over their 95+ OVR senior RB's cause they werent quite as fast..

a fucking joke.


let alone all the ways you could cheat through recruiting...

I feel bad for taking part in the whole decline of the board but then again I don't really care. I want to play a good game, why am I not entitled to discuss what needs to happen for it to be good, since clearly the guys making it have no fucking clue.

I found it hilarious that Adam Thompson, one of the designers who posts on the board, came on and said that "all of this negativity has kind of made me not want to come here anymore." OHHH I'M SOOO SOWWY ADDAM, WANT ME TO STOP? WANT ME TO PRAISE YOUR WITTLE MASCOT GAMES AND YOUR SEASON SHOWDOWN? Fuck that. ^^^I actually like weapons for when im in a franchise like ten years in i can just press a button and see the traits of their team without scouting them, at least that helps you, Mascot games just have no fucking point.

I've heard Adam Thompson try and justify this. He said something along the lines of "it only took 1 day to code this. It was really easy for us to do and takes up no game space. The only thing we had to do was code it so that instead of the normal player models, the mascot's model was there instead"

Okay, 1 day, 1 day you could work on tuning your shit gameplay. And obviously it wasn't just 1 day, it took you guys 1 day to mo-cap those flips and shit the mascots can do? Did it take you 1 day to brainstorm this shit feature into the game? Did it take 1 day to code it into the menu's and make a new team called "Michigan State Mascot"? I REALLY doubt that it took ONE day to do this shit.

Look guys, they are trying to appeal to the 8 year old kid here, its so obvious with the shit they put in. This is where they are going with the series and until the sales continue to drop and the developers wipe their tears from the negative comments and realize that 8 YEAR OLDS DON'T BUY THAT MANY GAMES VERSUS THE HARDCORE CROWD, then we will continue to get stuff like Season Mascot Showdown Online Dynasty Mashup.

I do not have a problem with mascot games. Throw something in there for the kids, my son thinks it's fun. It took a matter of hours to code. I'm down with that.

Season Showdown... lets measure the benefits and drawbacks to this.

* Development time, who knows, but it seems like it'd be appreciable.

* Desired by: Nobody, so far as I know

* Will be used: Yes, I assume most people will use it, since you don't have to think about it.

* Return: None, really. You pick a school, and then you no longer interact with it. This is the sticking point. NCAA team justifies it by saying, "You wont even really have to think about it." Well then what's the fuckin' point?

Let me state this: I talk with Adam regularly. He's a good guy and, quite honestly, he does a pretty good job on his area of the game. Dealing with NCAA license issues while juggling 120 schools' home, road, and alternate uniforms is a lot of work. But he actually said to me, and was right in saying, "NCAA fans tend to be more hardcore than Madden's fans."

YES, THEY ARE! You're absolutely right! Which is the reason it should have been NCAA, not Madden, taking the lead in making the game more sim, right? Yet you're being left in the dust by a game that you said had a less hardcore fan base!

NCAA has a month head start in preproduction, NCAA has the fanbase that would support 100% without a doubt a move in a hardcore direction. NCAA has every reason to be doing what Madden is, and yet it's Madden that's taking the risk of pissing off the casuals, not NCAA.

If he knows this and yet still makes the decision to include fluff like Season Showdown over sim things then there are only two possible explanations.

(1) He is incompetent (no one in their right mind could think the "community" would be gung ho for season showdown with so... many other issues left unaddressed) and he should be fired (nice guy or not)and/or;

(2) He doesn't care about the hard core community in NCAA and thinks the casual/arcade gamer is the way to go and he should be fired.

He may be the coolest guy in the world. However, it is simply time for a new direction in NCAA and I do not believe Adam, Ben or any of the current staff are capable of delivering what Ian has brought to Madden.

Adam is not responsible for the direction of NCAA. He's not to NCAA what Ian is to Madden. Saying he's incompetent is like blaming a short order cook when the menu doesn't have what you want. It's not his call.

He's an art guy, works with uniforms. He couldn't make the changes if he wanted too... what I was trying to point out is that his own words indicate that the NCAA team knows full well that they've got the hardcore audience.

^^^ good idea but the fact is is that no matter how much any of us complain about this shit we are still gunna buy it like dumb asses, look at the new features like shit chucking apes, get some downloadable rosters, and find a way to make it work, and in the end thats why EA just dont givew a fuck, and thats why it works
