I don't think it is hypocrisy. Anytime a child is hurt or abused and it makes the news, people tend to rally. If anything is ignored, it is because we don't know about all of the other cases. They don't all make the news and we aren't seers that can drive by a home and know if a child is being abused.

I don't think it has anything to do with it being Peterson's kid. It has to do with the fact that we are all in shock over how someone could hurt a child in that manner. Any child. Not just Peterson's.

Obviously the relationship between Peterson and the childs mom wasn't strong. No one knows the details behind that so I won't even bother guessing. It's life though, shit happens that way sometimes. I'm sure he isn't the only athlete that had/has kids out there they don't/didn't know about. Just because he hasn't known him for the childs entire life doesn't mean he should just brush it off.
