Dolphins agreed to terms with ILB Kevin Burnett on a four-year contract.

Burnett landed $10 million guaranteed, which was more than the Chargers were willing to pay. One of the league's most overlooked linebackers, Burnett graded out exceptionally well in Pro Football Focus' ratings the past two years in San Diego. Though recently released Channing Crowder has been premier a run defender, he was liability in coverage. Burnett provides a significant upgrade,

from what i heard tonight, the Eagles may deal Samuel. He has burnt some bridges in Philly, over 30, and his salary goes up each year. He may end up in Arizona of all places. Philly seems to be ok with this because Aso can stick to the right side of the field he is use to playing and DRC can play the left side where he is comfortable.

I honestly don't think they'll get a good pick out of him at all. Maybe a 3rd rounder? No one is gonna give him a 2nd or 1st but i think wherever he goes he will be a great CB for them.

NFL Network's Mike Lombardi reports that the Eagles are now willing to entertain trade offers for Asante Samuel.
This contradicts a report from ESPN's Ashley Fox, who after checking with sources predicted Samuel would return to Philadelphia. Samuel has large base salaries ($5.9 million in 2011) forthcoming, so he won't be easy to trade. He also isn't a schematic fit for zone defenses or teams that want their corners to play press-man. If the Eagles are going to make a Super Bowl run, they ought to strongly consider keeping Samuel this season, then cutting him when his salary jumps to $8.4 million in 2012. When healthy, he's still a top-ten cornerback in terms of ball skills and off-man coverage.

Free agent Plaxico Burress met with the Giants' brass for 90 minutes Friday night.
Burress first met with coach Tom Coughlin, then had short meetings with GM Jerry Reese and team president John Mara. "It was a man-to-man conversation," said Reese. "We talked about some football, and '’m sure the head coach and him had a private conversation, which is between them. It was a good visit." Reese confirmed that signing Burress remains a possibility, but nothing sounded imminent. Burress is expected to talk to the Steelers as well.

The Miami Herald confirms that the Dolphins' attempts to trade for Kyle Orton are not over.
The main stumbling block here appears to be Orton, who is entering the final year of his contract, agreeing to a new deal with the Dolphins. If the Broncos inform Orton that he won't be starting over Tim Tebow, perhaps he'll see an opportunity to beat out Chad Henne in Miami and lower his demands. We'll be hearing plenty more about this situation over the next week.

Glad we didn't break the bank on Aso, pretty shocked Philly got him. That move is the embodiment of everything the Eagles don't do.

I'm actually pretty happy to have Marcus Spears back. He's way more important to our defense than Stephen Bowen. People just don't realize because he doesn't get all those pretty sacks.

The Eagles have long preached they don't have any regard for a player over the age of 30.

Once an Eagle player hits that age, he's on the chopping block.

So it's shocking to me that they would go out and spend money on a guy that age. Especially when they're digging their feet in about not wanting to pay Desean Jackson.

As far as Newman, I agree the salary's a little high, but he can still play. I'm fine having him out there - even with bad ribs he was our best CB last year. As long as he's not banged up, he's still pretty damn good. Cutting Newman adds to the $20M in dead cap space we already have for next year with the Williams, Davis and MBIII cuts. No thanks.

I'd rather they draft his replacement in the next year or so then spend ridiculous amounts on a guy who, again, is already 30 years old. Especially when they still need two safeties.

Aso doesn't play safety, and he doesn't play DE. We would not have been able to bring back Marcus Spears if we signed him.
