Let's catch up, shall we?

Moves:
-The team cut the two big name free agents signed last offseason, WR Jerry Porter and CB Drayton Florence. Porter never showed he was worth the bonus money he was given, and Florence was a piece of charcoal by the end of the season.
- Fred Taylor's stay in Jacksonville came to an end, as the team cut the 11-year vet. He is, in most minds, the greatest player in team history, and hopefully he can catch on with a winner (just not at the expense of the Jags, I hope).

Rumors:
- DE Paul Spicer is likely getting the ax, so to speak, by the start of the free agency period. The team is on a youth movemvent, and mid-30s does not fit that mold.
- RB Maurice Jones-Drew is close to getting a contract extension. Reports have it valued at about $8 mil per year, with $20 mil guaranteed. He's been the offense's most productive player since he first put on a teal jersey, and this contract would be well deserved. He is also the national face of the team at this point, and keeping him around is good for the team and for the city.

So, any free agents out there that my fellow Jags fans want the team to pursue? How about the draft?
 
I want us to either move Brian Williams back to CB and pursue a nice SS or keep Williams at SS and go after a nice #2 CB.

I'm interested to see how Durant, Smith and Ingram work together as a linebacker core because Peterson ain't coming back.

I'll be happy with either a #1 WR in the draft or a LT.
 
Durant, Smith and Ingram should be a good group. Now that all three are entrenched as the starters, I think they will do very well together.

It would be nice to have an actual #1 level receiver...the team hasn't had one since Jimmy Smith retired, so going on five years now. I think that's long enough. I know some are banking on Mike Walker finally coming on, or even Matt Jones improving on last year (and not getting suspended, thanks a lot), but I think those guys aren't #1 material.

The team has a lot of areas they need to improve in, so just take good players in the draft and build up. While I believe they can improve and get back close to where they were in 2007, I don't see them as legit conference contenders at this point.

I know he had an incredible game this season at one point, i can't remember what game it was but I think this season he will prove himself as a very reliable slot option. Matt Jones should and will stay a reliable #2 receiver. We just desperately need a speedy #1. I'd shit if it was TJ but I'm not gonna hold my breath.
 
I just wonder if they would even use a big name FA wideout properly...that's been the main problem with this team over the last few years. The WRs they've had haven't been used properly IMO, and the production in the passing game has suffered because of it.

Getting the running game going like it was two years ago would really, really help, so offensive line help should be a primary focus.
 
Would the Jaguars consider re-acquiring Byron Leftwich? I think he'll be available, and David Garrard regressed last year when he was required to throw more than 10 passes per game.

BTW, I saw Jack Del Rio in a bar in Indianapolis this past weekend.

I'm pretty sure the bridge between Leftwich and Jacksonville is burned, at least as long as Del Rio is still there. I don't think there was ever any animosity between Byron and the ownership, so that wouldn't be a hinderance. He always got a lot of crap from the fans though, so I doubt he would ever consider going back.

Could use a good backup, though...
 
Even though they're in the same divison as the Texans. I hope this team gets everything together, they're one of my favorites.
 
yeah we need a #1 wideout, also replace Khalif barnes cant stand that bitch... get greg williams the FUCK OUT of the jags organization, and our Offensive playcalling sucked bad, screens and runs, we need to take more chances on the offensive side.
 
They need to get Garrard confident enough in his deep passing to throw down the field more often. Wideouts were getting open deep and he would just dump off to MoJo more often than not.

O-Line and WR help would have to be the two main concerns for this team...

I'd like to see either Nicks (that bowl game of his won me over... but I have no clue as to his Combine/Pro Day stats) or Maclin (praying he didn't fuck up his draft status with that knee injury) show up in the Black and Teal this upcoming season.

However, the team better pick an O-Lineman first...
