WR changes from the end of the 2008 season to now:
Gone = Matt Jones, Reggie Williams, Jerry Porter

Right now, Dennis Northcutt would be the #1. Calling Mr. Torry Holt...hello, Mr. Holt. Will you and Mr. Crabtree/Maclin/Harvin please come to Jacksonville at your earliest possible convenience?

Now seriously that WR core strikes no fear into any team. Granted all of them have speed but none of them are reliable. We need to make a move in FA and sign Holt and then draft a WR in the 1st or 2nd round.

Hopefully though Mike Walker can drop the injury bug this upcoming season and show flashes of hope like he did against Pittsburgh last year.

The Jaguars have reportedly been keeping tabs on free agent Torry Holt.
The Titans and Jags so far are the only teams to be linked to Holt, who is currently on vacation. Jacksonville is the better fit. Tennessee is fairly well set with Justin Gage and Nate Washington outside. The Jags' current starters are Dennis Northcutt and Mike Walker. Mar. 24 - 1:35 pm et

From what I'm hearing right now it looks like the Jaguars and Broncos are going to swap picks in the first round and that would allow the Jaguars to get the Broncos 3rd round pick as well. I'm really liking the sound of that because I think Maclin will still be on the board at 12 and it would save us some money too, plus were adding draft picks with getting that 3rd rounder. In a perfect world with that trade we could address WR, OT, DT, CB all in the first 3 rounds of the draft.

We just signed Maurice Jones Drew to a 4 year deal locking him up until the 2013 season. He is now the third highest paid RB behind Steven Jackson and Grandmama.

I think the best case scenario for the Jaguars is that the Jaguars sign Torry Holt, Draft B.J. Raji in the first round then also draft a CB in the second round. Then the jags can get a couple OT's later in the draft. The Jaguars defense was dominant when they had 2 great DT's. They should get that back if they have the chance too.

The Jacksonville Jaguars are nearing a deal for free agent wide receiver Torry Holt, but it has not yet been finalized, sources tell ESPN's Chris Mortensen.

Holt was released by the St. Louis Rams on March 13 shortly before he was due a $1.25 million roster bonus on the 17th.

Holt, a seven-time Pro Bowl selection, ranks 11th on the league's all-time reception list with 869 catches.

The 10-year veteran caught just 64 passes last year for 796 yards and three touchdowns, the fewest scoring catches of his career. His total receptions and total yards were the second-lowest of his career, ahead of only his rookie season of 1999.

The Jaguars are in need of a veteran receiver. The team released troubled receiver Matt Jones last month after he violated a plea agreement from an earlier drug charge. They also released Jerry Porter and didn't re-sign free agent Reggie Williams.

The Jaguars brought in these four lineman in the past week.

Sebastian Vollmer - OT - Houston - Vollmer is from Germany and didn’t begin playing football until he was 14 years old. Prototypical size at 6’8", 312 lbs., Vollmer is still raw. Long arms, only average strength. Better suited for right tackle instead of left tackle. Likely an early second day pick.

T.J. Lang - OG - Eastern Michigan - A left tackle in college, Lang will have to play inside in the NFL due to his lack of athleticism. His versatility makes him a rising pick and he could go as early as the third round. Good size at 6’4", 316 lbs.

Blake Schlueter - C - TCU - Overshadowed by the fantastic crop of centers in this year’s draft, Schlueter has great athleticism at 6’3", 290 lbs. as he ran in the 4.7’s and registered a 35" vertical leap. Schlueter is projected as a late-round pick.

Paul Fanaika - OG - Arizona State - Massive 6’5", 327 lb. prospect was a former walk-on at ASU. Powerful upper body, but often lacks

Trust me, I would love Percy too, but I think our biggest need is DT. If Raji is there at 8 which is very possible then Gene Smith better not even think about it. Raji is the guy who always going to be double teamed, and so is John Henderson. So that would leave one of our massive DT's to be left one on one every play. This also would work out really well for Groves and Harvey on the edge with having two massive bodies in the middle. With the Jaguars getting pressure with just our lineman allows the Jaguars secondary not to be depended on so much, so with drafting a guy like DJ Moore or Alphonso Smith in the second round you wouldn't have to worry that much. If we get Torry Holt and Ramsees Barden in the draft then I think our WR's will be fine. With having them two on the outside and Walker or Northcutt in the slot. But I think the Jaguars need to select BJ Raji, he improves our pass and run defense instantly because he will be paired up with another big strong DT just like he was in BC, and we seen how he did there.

I wouldn't call Reggie Nelson great. He is good, but no where near great yet.

Well its been reported on NFL Network that the Jaguars and Jets have a deal in place that if the Jets player that they want is there at 8 that the Jaguars will trade back to 17.
