Official NHL 10 Impressions Thread

Lets leave the "I should be getting this" talk to the thread we already have. Just impressions here so people won't have to go through a bunch of non-sense posts.

Just got the game, but haven't played it much yet. Here are some early impressions I got from EASHL.

EASHL
- Let's you use actual teams jersey's still (Ex: Chicago Blackhawks jerseys)

- Much more going on around EASHL in general (Big menu screen)

- Has a main "home" room and 5 other rooms so big teams can play up to 6 games at once

- The trophies are a little too easy (win 10 games, win 30 games, play 60 games, play with 6 guys, score 5 goals in a game, get 7 assists in one game, get a shutout, and score 50 goals total)

- Awards (you get Bronze, Silver, and Gold Awards; also one award for winning a month in EASHL)

- RECORD BOOK: This is something cool that I didn't know about. You can see some cool records from your past games (ex: Most points in a game, Most goals by a single team member in one game, most penalty minutes, etc)

- Lets you easily send invites to some of your friends

The bolded will keep you busy long enough.

See for the jersey selection. You can use team jersey like the hawks as you say, but is there a customisation option and how deep is it?

New Modes

Battle for Cup - Instant stanley cup final best of 7. good shit.
Playoffs - finally brought back!

GM Mode - great.

Simulated a season. Pretty good from what I see. Draft is 5 rounds. Beginning of the round there's trades thrown around, you might get calls, you might not. Then you draft the round and start all over with a trade session for the next round.

Trades seem legit for the most part.

Trade deadline was cool. 4 rounds of deals till the deadline hits.

1st round had just one one-for-one deal of scrub players
2nd round had 3-4 deals involving bottom end NHL'ers.
3rd round saw another 3-5 deals with better players, big deal seeing Heatley go to Boston for Chara (LOL).
4th round had another 3-5 deals, Hejduk went to Nashville, Rafalski went to C-Bus for Huselius and someone else,

There was like 15 or so deals, some picks flew around, only a couple big names went. Seems pretty realistic in the amount of skill that moved.



I wish more people had this so I could get into OTP games.

Quick question for the GM mode stuff.

When does it start? Right at the first game of the season or does it start before the draft?

Its a Friday night thing tonight...Crazy stuff happened if you wanna hear it but you probably don't. Anyway, I'm back so i'll answer some of the questions.

I'm sure a guy that goes to high school football games had a totally fun time.
