Can't believe there's no thread for the world champs. Am I the only Phillies fan here?

Anyway, pretty big 4 game sweep over the Nats this weekend. Pulled within a .5 game of the Mets.

Ibanez has been an absolute beast, and when the pitching comes around, this team will show how good it really is.

Where the rest of my Phillies fans at?

I was wondering the same thing about a month ago. How can there be no Phillies thread?

This season has been exciting, to say the least. Between a few Lidge meltdowns (and almost meltdowns), random, freak injuries to Cole Hamels, Jamie Moyer seemingly incapable of getting calls at the plate, and Rauuuuuuuuul knocking the piss out of the ball, I certainly can't claim that I haven't been entertained (and stressed).

Have you been to many games yet this year Mobb? I'm 2-1, and got to see the Werth theft of home. Looking forward to the Red Sox series (my next tickets). While I would obviously not trade the Phils WS title for anything, it certainly makes randomly deciding to snatch up some tickets much damn harder.

Whereabouts in NE Philly are you? I'm in the NW, right on the cusp of the ghetto, about a half mile from the zoo.

Yeah, its been a crazy ride so far with some real exciting games. I'm really looking forward to what they can do in NY this weekend. I'm so pissed they're playing up there this weekend though, I have too much stuff going on or else I'd go up there to check out a game. Seems like a lot of Philly fans are making their way up.

I've been to 3 games this year(Home opener, the following game where they gave out the Champs t-shirts, and the last Sunday home game vs. Atlanta) so I'm 0-3 and haven't seen anyone but the Braves yet. I have the Sunday ticket plan, so my next game will be the 31st vs. the Nats. I'm just glad I'll be seeing another team instead of the Braves again, lol. Do you have a season ticket plan, too?

I'm off of Academy Road in the Northeast. A few minutes off the Academy Rd exit on 95 basically.
 
I was very impressed with the Phils, to go up there and take 2 of 3 from a red hot Yankees team was nice to see. We should have swept the bastards. It was also nice to see/hear the Phillies fans up there. If it was any other weekend, I would have been up there, too.

I still can't believe Tex hit a broken bat home run 5 rows up yesterday. What an embarrassment that was.

Also, Lidge needs to be put on the DL. I don't think his knee is there, and it's messing him up badly.


I'll be going to the game tonight vs. the Fish. Hopefully we can take our winning ways back home now, I expect to take 5 of 6 on this mini home stand.
 
That was a well played series by the Phils.

Norm I'd get annoyed that the Yankees dropped 2 of 3 on a home series, but they just took 8 of 10 on that homestand, including the other day when having to burn though 8 1/3 with the bullpen.


Yankees / Phils would make a great World Series IMO
 
Yeah I'm happy we just won that series, but I am getting really frustrated with Lidge. I'm hoping we can put him on the 15 day DL and let Madsen get some opportunities to get saves. Now we start a home series with the Marlins, as of lately we've owned the Marlins winning our last 5 against them. So hopefully our bats stay hot and we can win this series. We got the Marlins and Nats at home before our schedule starts to get tough so hopefully we can get some good wins and then hit the road. We got 3 at San Diego, 4 at the Dodgers, 3 at the Mets, then come home to play the Red Sox and Blue Jays. So we got some tough games, so we get to see what this team is made of.

Good point. June will be a very tough month yet again. We will definitely see what they're made of. Hopefully they don't shit the bed like they did last June, but I don't think this offense will go into a long slump like they did around that time again this year.

We'll see.

I think we got a good shot at atleast taking 2 out of 3 in this series. We got the upper hand in pitching and our batting is way better than the Nats. We need to get in first place before we go on this road trip.
 
Yeah, have to at least win the series vs. the Nats this weekend before the tough West Coast trip.

Looks like Myers is done for the year. It could be a blessing in disguise cause Myers is average and this pretty much means we'll be trading for a starter. I just hope they don't get some lame ass 4th starter.
 
They would bring up Carrasco, Kendrick and Carpenter before they made a trade, but if one of these guys doesn't work out then yeah we would probably make a deal at the deadline.
 
None of those 3 are major league ready pitchers. IMO they have to trade for a legit starter if they want to have any shot of repeating.
 
The Phillies have inquired about Brandon Webb, Roy Halladay, Doug Davis, Erik Bedard, Cliff Lee, Aaron Harang, Brad Penny, Chris Young and Jason Marquis.
Right now I am hearing that the pitcher that we have the best bet at getting is Cliff Lee from the Indians. But it would probably take trading Corrasco, Jason Donald, And two from the group of Savery, Happ, Bastardo, and Worley. But Cliff Lee does come cheap and isn't a free agent til 2011
 
Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports spoke to Phillies GM Ruben Amaro Jr., who said the Phillies don't have the money to add multiple starters. Instead they'll aim high, with names like Erik Bedard and Roy Oswalt speculated by Rosenthal. So, not a Brad Penny type.
 
Nice to rack up some more wins vs. the Nats this weekend before this tough road trip. These next 13 games(including the 3 at home vs. the Red Sox) will be a good test for this team. If they can come out of this 7-6, that will be pretty good.

2 of 4 in LA
1 of 3 vs. NYM
2 of 3 vs. BOS
