Oh really? Let's look at Wisconsin's schedule

I'm sorry, but that schedule is a joke aside from three or four teams. TCU didn't play a tough schedule, but neither did Wisconsin. They are a paper giant.

Looking at Wis schedule next to TCU's, WIS had the tougher schedule.

What's your problem?

The number 3 team beat the number 5 team by 2 points. I'd say that's a good showing by both teams.

I guarantee you that half these voters actually thought Wisconsin would win. I thought they would kick major Frog ass. I guessed that TCU would score first and take an early 14-0 lead, then Wisconsin would come down and win by 2 touchdowns.

I mean honestly, did ANY OF YOU watch a single TCU game in the last two years? What possibly made people think TCU was going to get beat by 2-3 tds? I can understand people picking Wisconsin to win but what made anybody think that TCU was going to get killed? They have one of the top D's in the country, they have more speed then most teams in the country and they have an offense that generally makes no mistakes. (not to mention a great coach)

I guess Wisconsin's huge wins v horrible big ten teams skewed people's thinking badly.

Scheduling of all the top teams this year was just bad. Auburn's OOC schedule was a joke (although their in conference schedule was very tough). Oregon played 1 ranked team in the final BCS rankings. Stanford played only 1 team ranked in the final BCS rankings... and lost to them! Wisconsin had only 1 win against the BCS top 25. TCU's highest ranked opponent was #19.

Schedules in general this year weren't impressive.

I agree that Auburn's OOC schedule was bad, but like you said at least they played good teams in league play. Wisconsin's OOC schedule was an even bigger joke, plus the clownhouse teams like Indiana and Minnesota that they played for the majority of the year.

Out of conference, Wisconsin played: A 6 win Pac 10 team (and won by a point), two WAC teams with a combined 2-22 record, and then a 1-win FCS squad in Austin Peay.

I'm tired of the SEC getting a bad rap when it comes to scheduling, when the Big Ten beats up on shithouse teams out of conference and then turns around and beats up on shithouse teams in conference too.

A 6 win Pac 10 team, a 1-win D1-AA team and two WAC teams which went a combined 2-22.

At least Ohio State tries by scheduling teams like Miami, USC, and Texas.

Not every team in the Big Ten schedules bad teams.

Ohio State routinely schedules incredible teams OOC (Miami was supposed to be good this year, though lol). OSU has upcoming series with VT, Oklahoma, Tennessee, and Miami.

Michigan always plays ND and played the Big East champion this year. They have an upcoming game with Alabama in 2012.

Penn State plays a home and home with Alabama.

Michigan State plays Boise, West Virginia, and South Florida in the next couple years.

Wisconsin and many others though have awful OOC schedules for a while.

Not every team in the Big Ten schedules bad teams.

Yeah, I know, but my point is that neither does every team in the SEC.

OSU has upcoming series with VT, Oklahoma, Tennessee, and Miami.

And LSU has played VT twice this decade, is in the middle of a home and home with WVU, opens with Oregon next year in Dallas, etc.

Alabama and Tennessee, as you have mentioned, never shy away from anyone.

Wisconsin and many others though have awful OOC schedules for a while.

That's really my only point. Scheduling Arkansas State or UT-Chattanooga is really no different than the occasional Eastern Michigan or Youngstown State match up.

Once the 12th game was added, it gave big time programs license to host a rent-a-win or two. Extra home game equals guaranteed revenue.

The Big Ten schedules no better or worse OOC than the SEC, despite perception. That is my only point.

Congratulations to TCU. They executed perfectly and made mistake free football.

This game left me feeling sick, our coaches really shit the bed and we left a lot of points on the field. All year, the talk of the town has been how great Wisconsin's two coordinators, Paul Chryst and Dave Doeren are. Well they both sucked on Saturday. Doeren has already accepted the head coaching job at Northern Illinois and Chryst has been rumored for a job at Texas, I can only assume their minds were elsewhere because they both mailed this one in. Doeren failed to adjust all game. He never blitzed and he kept the corners ten yards out from the receivers. This gave Andy Dalton all day in the pocket, not that he usually needed it; the Frogs were burning the Badger defense with short curl routes all day. Even in third and short situations the Badger corners lined up ten yards from the line of scrimmage making it all to easy for Dalton to complete short passes for the first down.

Chryst's play calling sucked ass. The power running game is Wisconsin's bread and butter, everyone knows that. And I highly doubt TCU would have been able to stop it if we would have kept pounding the rock all game. However, instead of sticking with the run, Wisconsin switched to a more pass heavy offense in the second quarter, which ironically led to shit production for half the game. Also lol at all the sweeps and cut back runs Chryst called. Who the fuck did he think he was going to fool? The speed of TCU's defense made these runs very easy to stop, and they produced nothing for us all day. I have no idea why Chryst kept calling them.

The thing that pisses me off the most is John Clay was basically ignored until the last drive of the game. He dominated that last touchdown drive, and I have no idea why he wasn't allowed to try and get the two point conversion with a run up the middle. The few carries he got before that were all very good runs, and you could tell after each run he was excited and ready for more. However after each run (IDK how many carries he had before the last drive, maybe five?) he was sent back to the bench. It was a terrible coaching decisions to leave the teams best skill position player on offense on the bench for most of the game. Montee Ball and James White are both good football players, but their skill sets do not match up as well against TCU, and John Clay is just a better player period. If John Clay gets 25 carries in this game, instead of 11, I think we win.

Also fuck you Nick Toon, for constantly getting the drops in big games. And fuck Philip Welch for missing a 39 yard field goal.

At least we're not Michigan State! LOL

I love how that tiny group of TCU fans is louder than a 3/4 Badger filled stadium... Hopefully TCU crushes...

It was over half Wisconsin fans, but I wouldn't say three quarters. I agree though, I was in the student section and it sounded to me as though TCU was louder then the Wisconsin fans. I was right on the edge of the student section, next to what I assume was the area sold to the general public, as barely anyone had Wisconsin or TCU gear on in the section next to me. I spotted one dweeb wearing a Michigan Lacrosse tshirt. LOL. The Wisconsin student section sucked ass, there were a lot of old people which means a lot of students sold out and sold their tickets, or just brought their family. Which means it wasn't very loud. By the end of the game TCU had worn most of them out and half the time I could tell barely anyone was shouting near me other then myself when we were on defense. It was embarrassing.

Add to it that we had stupid bitches trying to start the wave in the fourth quarter, and the fan who got on the field, it wasn't a great showing from the Wisconsin fanbase. Let me just say I hate the fucking wave. The stupid fucking cunts who tried starting the wave did it while Wisconsin was on offense (wtf!) and they actually got it going a bit on the Badgers final touchdown drive. Fucking stupid ass fans.

I haven't rewatched the game yet, but I doubt they showed the fan who got onto the field. At the end of the game, most of the security was at the corner of the stadium setting up the platform for the award ceremony. A Wisconsin fan ran out onto the field and tried attacking one of the TCU players. He then ran too the Wisconsin bench, I don't know if he expected them to take his side or what; but he ran right at one of the offensive lineman and got knocked on his ass, before the security guards jumped on him.

I think that game was just a result of out-thinking yourself. Happens to the best of us. Regardless, I don't think we'll see the exact same offense at Texas.

I'll be honest, I don't know much about the recruiting process. It just isn't something I follow that closely. Wisconsin never has great recruiting classes, looking at rivals, they have Wisconsin at #34 in the nation, with only two four star recruits. Wisconsin has always specialized in finding diamonds in the rough, current example: JJ Watt.

The Badgers have always had a great oline and good runningbacks, that's what they're known for. On the otherhand, they've always had game managers at quarterback, nothing more. I agree it would do them well to go after a few top QB recruits. That rushing attack with an explosive quarterback would be quite deadly.

Hopefully with this Rose Bowl appearance, the Badgers can lay down the foundation for consistent success, and better recruiting classes. Over the last decade they've been more or less, a perennial 7-9 win team; a good Big 10 team, but nothing special. I'd like to see more years like 2010 and see them become a perennial 10-11 win team. And play a few decent out of conference opponents too.
