Love to hear your Post game opinions Leaf. You may be eating some Crow this season. Solid team effort minus a poor pass rush and atrocious secondary play. This team can win this season with minimized mistakes and the return of Tenard. Sabby and Elbert Mack played terrible.
I said in the Dallas V Tampa game thread that this offense looks committed to running the football and it appears to be quite effective. Props to Carnell for coming back so strong and performing the way he did. I'm actually quite happy for him.
Clayton is being overhyped after one game and Morris' "challenge" for someone to question the re-signing of Clayton just goes to show how green he is at this job. Clayton gained a majority of his yards off of one catch. He still had 2 drops that were easy catches and his performance the rest of the day was solid. But it should be solid when he gets $10 million guaranteed after multiple seasons of only averaging 34 catches.
The first half was fantastic. However, the second half showed us that - the Bucs are who I thought they were

Gaines Adams showed me what I have known since last season ended - he still sucks. His fish hook route to the quarterback is not going to work, he consistently takes himself out of a play trying to use a pure speed rush. He handicaps the defense by essentially forcing them to play with 10 guys and rush 3 because he is so hell bent on running around the tackle rather than through him. I would advise Gaines to watch some film of Adewale Ogunleye from SNF. You can be a speed rusher and still overpower a tackle. Gaines "hides" out on the field. The only reason he is still out there and given chance after chance is because of the size of his paycheck. Make no mistake. Morris' patience is running thin with him though.
The vertical passing game is fantastic if you can connect on those plays. Lefty hit Clayton on one play and that was it. Granted, I like Lefty's arm strength because I doubt he will ever underthrow a receiver. However, while I appreciate that he doesn't put the ball in a position to be picked off, no one is going to respect the vertical passing game when you throw the ball 10-15 yards, and sometimes more, past the receiver. It only encourages more press coverage from a defense. Lefty needs to limit his "enthusiasm" for going deep and placing the ball. The deep game is no good if you can't place it properly.
Those are my thoughts. I don't see any crow that I would need to feast on. The Bucs played tough in the first half. In the second half they sucked. If you think I should eat crow because of that performance...well...you are drinking the kool-aid. The secondary blows, the pass rush sucks, Lefty can't place a pass, Clayton still dropped passes, K2 had a drop, etc. The only real positive I saw was Carnell's performance. And if you think I am being too pessimistic or negative, then you have no idea what coaches in the NFL think of a performance like that. Sunshine can say all the right things to the public media, but, if you think he really is happy with that performance and the rest of the coaching staff is saying "...hot damn, bunch of people gonna have to eat crow after we stayed within thirteen points of the Cowboys," then you are sadly mistaken. The only positive they may be spinning inside One Buc is Clayton because MD and Sunshine have to justify $10mm to Clayton.
