I am finally confident enough in my stick skills to go online and provide a decent challenge. I just finished my first online match against a guy named TJHagar54.
It was GSP (me) V Hughes.
It was a back-and-forth 1st round. He was more focused on making it a slug-fest and I wanted to move the match to the ground. I took him down on multiple occasions and he was able to transition out of it after a few bumps to the head and a couple unsuccessful attempts at an arm bar.
He was effective in his striking. I tried to stay away (because I am not good in close quarters striking) and strike with kicks to the body/head. It was effective, but, not enough. Eventually in the 2nd round he was able to get close enough and he just pounded me. I lost by TKO. It was a good match though. I really have to work on my close quarters defense.
After the match I looked at my fighter profile and I now am described with:
1) Good ground/pound
2) Effective take down skill
I actually like the little descriptions of the online users style. It helps to have an idea of what to expect.
