If you guys have read the reports on RG3's knee, there is a lot of concern among the Redskins organization and with doctors who have looked at it. This isn't as simple as Adrian Peterson's recovery. And another thing, "If AP can do it RG3 can" - How does that make any sense? AP's recovery, especially for a RB, was unprecedented and AP is a special kind of athlete. There is legitimate concern RG3 may not be ready for the opener.

A league source tells Profootballtalk.com that there is "much greater concern" about Robert Griffin III's reconstructed right knee than Griffin or "anyone connected to the Redskins" has let on.
Griffin will end up rehabbing both knees because surgeons were forced to use a patellar tendon graft from his left knee in order to fix his right. He tore the ACL, LCL, and partially tore his meniscus in the right knee. Per PFT's source, the "biggest concern" is with Griffin's knee cartilage. Due to two knee constructions and ultimately three surgeries since 2009 at Baylor, there is concern "about how much (cartilage) remains and how long it will last" in Griffin's knee(s). A potential end result could be a bone-on-bone condition, which can lead to microfracture surgery and/or shorten a football player's career.

RGIII is equally as impressive as AP athletically. However, the LCL takes longer to rehab than the ACL, and they are taking a patella graft from his left knee, so he has both to rehab. I would think they aren't going to make the same mistake twice and rush RGIII out there again. They have Cousins who can start for a month or so until RGIII is ready.

So what do you guys think our big needs are going into the draft? Obviously there's a ton of holes in the secondary but I also think he need to bring in depth at all of the linebacker positions as well. I think we're actually set on offense save for maybe a late round developmental WR.

My order of needs goes:

S
CB
OLB
MLB
C
WR
NT

I think WR and NT are non-issues, especially if some of the depth players along the defensive line are brought back. WR, I can't see us drafting someone else. I could potentially see a FA signing, but that's it.

Secondary help and MLB depth is probably the biggest need, and if Rob Jackson and Chris Wilson leave via FA, OLB jumps ahead of MLB. Secondary help could be found through FA, especially at safety.

I still think OT is a position we need to upgrade, especially RT. S, RT, CB is currently my top three, but I also am not going to complain with BPA is rounds two and three due to not having a first.

And that's why we have Kirk Cousins who can run the offense for a few weeks while RG3 finishes his rehab

Kirk Cousins is a more than capable backup. I'm not saying he's as good as RG3 but the team can manage just fine without him while he recovers. There is no reason for the organization to rush his rehab to get him on the field for preseason or even Week 1

I'd like to improve by a starter. If we have someone slide down to us that ends up as the BPA available, take them. Polumbus is solid, but I'd rather have him as the primary backup.

Definitely a wild card. Maybe not a starter, but someone like Doughty who plays special teams really well and can step up when injuries happen and be a solid starter.

I agree with the not rushing Griffin back but you really dont know what you have in Cousins from and extended play standpoint. He played decent in limited action, you have a full game vs Cle, a half vs ATL and a drive or 2 vs Baltimore. How well will he perform if he had to play 4,8 or even a whole season? Dont blame the optimism but it should be cautious optimism. You all will be playing a #1 schedule next season, not a last place schedule.

He played decent in limited action, you have a full game vs Cle, a half vs ATL and a drive or 2 vs Baltimore. How well will he perform if he had to play 4,8 or even a whole season? Well, the alternative is bringing in another QB or having Grossman fight for the starting spot. I'd rather give it to Cousins and bring Grossman back as the backup- he's fine as a backup, but I want him nowhere near the starting job barring injury.

The thing with Cousins is that, you are right, he has limited experience in games. The good thing with drafting him with another rookie QB is that both of them worked together and pushed each other to learn the playbook and accelerate their growth. Both Griffin and Cousins are very smart people, and are on the level mentally of a third or fourth year QB right now.

Both DC jobs that Raheem Morris was scheduled to interview for- Cleveland and Chicago- were filled by others. Morris still has generated interest and could have other interviews.

Ike Hilliard left to join Buffalo's staff. That's a blow, as he did a great job with some of the younger receivers we had this season. If we only lose one coach this off-season, I'll be happy.

For the mock, anyone we think we should try to move for draft picks, even late ones? I think the Only realy candidates would be Roy Helu and Fred Davis and both would only net us 5th rounders at best more than likely

Davis was franchised last year, don't think he can be traded even if he does sign a long-term extension. More than likely, he signs a one year deal instead of being franchised.

He's coming off a big injury and he has previous suspensions for substance abuse. No way a team would give up any more than a 5th round pick for him.
