A lot of people are saying that they'll have their press conference by mid-March (there some conference thing around then that everyone thinks they'll go before that comes around, can't remember what it is though). Sounds about right though, time wise, and I think that they put out a teaser here pretty damn quick as well, maybe in the next week or two. I'm excited to see what they come out with.

Do the same thing (specs, some features/partnerships, games), and maybe show the console. I doubt they'd do something like give a price before E3.

If they wanted to a slight competitive advantage they could allow all your XBLA games to come over on your account on the new system. Since 360s architecture is similar to a PC it may be possible.

I mean that would be pretty big if at launch all the games that are downloadable on Live now are available at launch and everything you purchased would just need to be re-downloaded. Seamless transition.

Xbox 720 announcement in April?

Unspecified developers and "industry professionals" have informed CVG that Microsoft will announce the Xbox 720 at a one-off event in April. This is later than the rumored March event and would notably take place after the 2013 Game Developers Conference.

In addition, a "senior Sony official" who asked to remain anonymous told the site that the PlayStation 4 unveiling this week "at first caught Microsoft off-guard." This person added that, "We definitely ruffled some feathers."

Microsoft spokesperson Larry Hryb--aka Major Nelson--took a shot at the PS4 event this week. Writing on Twitter, he said "Well then. This meeting is running a little longer than expected," followed by "Announce a console without actually showing a console? That's one approach."

The PS4 is officially due out this holiday season. Microsoft's Xbox 720 is also believed to launch during this window, though Microsoft has yet to comment on the rumored console.

Xbox 720: EA & Microsoft to announce exclusivity deal at April reveal – Rumor

Xbox 720 could see timed-exclusivity of EA titles and DLC going into the next generation, sources have claimed. A deal is expected to be announced between both parties at Microsoft’s console reveal event, currently rumoured for April 26th.

The rumoured event will allegedly see a deal announced between EA and Microsoft, that could give Xbox 720 / Durango first dibs on all EA titles for a while.

CVG’s sources have told the site that the terms of the deal are not concrete, but given EA’s approach of launching games across all formats the deal will likely amount to timed exclusives, rather than Xbox 720-only titles. Timed-exclusive DLC could also be on the cards.

We now know that both the EA-published IP from Respawn Entertainment will appear at E3 2013 and that Battlefield 4 has gone next-gen. Could these games launch as timed Xbox 720 exclusives?

We’ll keep our ears to the ground on this one, but I did find it odd that EA didn’t appear at Sony’s PS4 announcement last week, given its track record of appearing at every showcase under the sun.

I doubt it too but if Activision can do it with CoD map packs...

M$'s m.o. lately has been "fuck making games, we'll just throw money at people". I can see them doing this to all but guarantee all the sports gamers buy their console just to play Madden, NHL, etc. Why make games when you can corner a market?

Huh? It would be M$ taking the gameble and paying the money. If they would be willing to pay EA what they expected to make for the first few months of selling their games on PS4 that's all that matters.

There has been a decline the past several years but I know Madden alone sells millions. Imagine if Madden die hards could only play their favorite game on the new Xbox this Fall? Once M$ gets those consoles in homes that's all they care about. Look at the Kinect. They marketed the shit out of it and got it into millions of homes, to only not give it any support. They made their money and got their foot in the door.
