Oh crap, Affliction is cancelled

Cancelling the show sucks IMO, I feel bad for the fighters and missing out on a pay day, hopefully they can work something out with strikeforce or try and throw another show together

but Tom has always treated the fighters well in the past by giving them great paydays and treating them with respect, I dont think that can be denied, ask any of the guys that have fought for Affliction, I dont think they will have another show but maybe they can just go back to sponsering and like strikeforce or whoever run the fight side of it

I like Tom. Hes better off co promoting or just sponsoring. If he was really determined to treat fighters well he would help then organize a union. Every promoter whether its fighting or music or whatever is friendly and generous when they are trying to get on the map and topple a giant. But you need to mix experience or savv in there.

Anyways I would like to have seen him spend some of that money he wasted on Sylvia and purhased a damn cage. Its like watching basketball played on grass without a cage.

Fedor vs Monson or Yvel would have probably done the same amount of buys as Barnett, this was about Fedor and you could have kept Vitor/Santaigo intact

Would Affliction have gotten a lot of those guys had it not been for the paydays they were offering? Not long ago a lot of you guys were talking about how a lot of top UFC fighters would be leaving to join Affliction because of the money. Even though a lot of the top fighters were earning more under the UFC, which basically proves that those type of pay days can work if you're generating enough buys. I think the bigger problem with Affliction is all of the mouths they had to feed in regards to the Trump org, Golden Boy, and M1. Just cutting up the pie too many ways, that was their downfall.

No way. Kimbo would have done good numbers though, but there wouldn't have been enough time at that point to even market it. The promos were already cut and running, press conferences were in the books, etc.

The only dip would have probably been from some hardcore fans pissed that Josh isnt fighting

This was probably there last show, so they should have just got Monson or someone and went with it

Thats just my opinion, I dont think Josh really gets the casual fan pumped, I guess some of the word is that Golden Boy and Showtime backed out of some of the money once Josh got popped (dont know how true that is), so maybe they couldnt even pull it off if they tired

I really dont think the buys would've been terribly effected. Fedor is the draw. Barnett is a decent draw too but Fedor was the money maker there. Obviously any time something like this happens you're probably not going to get as many buys.. but filling in with any decent name would've still down a similar amount of buys.

Nobody gives a fuck what you think. Rankings aren't based on what you think. Brock has won 4 MMA fights, Fedor has won 30. Fedor has beaten several top 10 heavyweights, Brock has beaten 2. That's how rankings work, not based on the speculation of some tard.

Barnett is a lot more recognizable to the casual fan than Jeff Monson is. Either way tho this PPV event was about selling to the hardcore fans, casual fans was not going to make up a large percentage of Affliction's buys no matter who Fedor was fighting.

wow this is horrible news. i was really looking forward to seeing fedor,gomi, BABALU, belfort etc. fight. wonder how many of those guys we are going to see in the UFC. I think Belfort is a lock but id love to see Babalu go back and Gomi and Mousassi come over, but i think those two will just head back to Japan.
